London art-punks LUXURY APARTMENTS have announced a new single and video which is out today.
'Troubling Time' is taken from the forthcoming EP Weak Spells, their first release since signing to Venn Records.
Now including members of Bad Breeding and Chubby & The Gang in their line-up, the band recorded the new EP over last Easter weekend with producer Jonah Falco of Toronto hardcore mob Fucked Up.
"We live in a time where we can live stream nightmares and watch them unfold whilst not being able to do anything about it but comment, like and share," says frontman Matt Tuner. "We live in a time where protesting in the street is completely futile. We live in a time where the narrative can be twisted and distorted at will to suit whoever holds the keys.
"The world seems to be getting darker as the days go on but It's not that these things have never happened before, what’s new is that we can see it in plain sight, every time you open up your phone, mass collective abysmal voyeurism where everyone is watching the world burn... It affects our lives on a daily basis. It's enough to drive you round the bend if you let it. It did to me...
"So what can you do about it when all the avenues to a better place seem to be on diversion...? The only thing I know to do... channel it into something… try to say something and hope it connects… this is what we have on offer. 'Troubling Time' refers to hindsight after a desperate situation.
"When you are finally out of the fire and you can see the full picture with clarity, you can see everything that was wrong and everything that was right. It applies to everything. World events, personal events, you get the answers on the other side. The key is to just make it through… and whilst on that journey to try and make the best choices. I think in ten, twenty years a lot of people from right now are going to be made accountable for a lot of awful things.”
