Post-rock supergroup SPEED OF THE STARS herald their long-awaited second album with a striking new video which they're premiering with Vive Le Rock!
The band features Steve Kilbey of Australian psych pioneers The Church; Frank Kearns of Irish alt-rockers Cactus World News; singer-songwriter Hugo Race, and Barton Price of 80s Aussie chart stars Models.
Recorded at Puccini Floating Music Academy near Pisa, and produced by Race, While Italy Dreamed.... through Summers of Haze comes nine years after the band's debut, which was initially a collaboration between Kilbey and Kearns, who had met while touring the US in the mid-80s.
"A few years back I read Hugo Race’s most excellent memoir Road Series about his adventures touring and making music all around the world," explains Kilbey. "Something in that book just spoke to me and I decided to approach Hugo and see if he was up for a collaboration of some kind. He wrote back and told me about a studio he was involved in that was located on a houseboat in a lake in Tuscany and asked me if would I like to do something there with him. It occurred to me that perhaps this could be a chance for Frank and I to do the next Speed Of The Stars record and that being in Italy would be a great source of inspiration; which totally proved to be true."
