Fire Films, the cinematic arm of Fire Records, have announced a new documentary about Robert Lloyd and The Nightingales.
King Rocker is the work of comedian Stewart Lee and director Michael Cumming (Brass Eye, Toast) and is set for release in 2019.
Lloyd came to prominence as frontman of original Birmingham punks The Prefects, who supported The Clash on their White Riot Tour, as well as sharing stages with Buzzcocks, The Damned and The Fall, yet released no records until after they'd split.
The Prefects morphed into The Nightingales achieving some success during the mid-80s before Lloyd went solo and signed to Virgin. The band reformed in 2004 and have since toured widely, reaching their highest profile yet with this year's Perish The Thought album.
