KŌHEI: OH YOU SICILY THING #2

KŌHEI: OH YOU SICILY THING #2

Another week, another band from Sicily!

KŌHEI, a post-punk trio from Catania have just dropped a new video for the track 'Graphene Cult'. It's taken from the band's forthcoming debut full-length Everything Looks Real, following on from their 3-track debut EP Plunge, which came out in February.

"At the heart of the narrative is a fierce critique of alienation and the false promises of salvation of the capitalist production model," they say. "The song explores the claustrophobic feeling of being reduced to a mere instrument, sacrificing our body and emotions for empty profits and hidden agendas." Right on!

The seeds of the band were sown in 2024 when guitarist/vocalist Andrea returned home from the UK where he'd been playing in post-metal insurgents TACOMA NARROWS bridge disaster and hooked up with bassist Daniele Arcoria. The final piece of the puzzle fell into place when they met up with Pietro Santoro at a Mogwai show in the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento.

For the purpose of the video, the band eschewed the standard miming to the recorded version way of doing things, going into Casetta Studios on the slopes of Mount Etna to deliver the track live and direct.

'Graphene Cult' is available to stream/download from Bandcamp and Spotify.
