KEELEY, the band project of Dublin-based songwriter, guitarist and blogger Keeley Moss, have announced the release of their third album.
Girl On The Edge Of The World is the follow-up to last year's Beautiful Mysterious and once again was created by Moss and bandmates, bassist Lukey Foxtrot and drummer Andrew Paresi with the help of producer Alan Maguire. The band were also joined on backing vocals by Miki Berenyi from Lush and Sice from The Boo Radleys.
Once again the album finds Moss's songwriting inspired by tragic tale of 18-year-old German backpacker Inga Maria Hauser who was murdered on her first visit to Ireland in 1988. A case that remains unsolved, Hauser's life and death are the subject of a lengthy and continuing blog by Moss which has in turn inspired She Sings Of Murder And Love, a new documentary film from director Virginia Heath, which is due for release in early 2027.
“I’ve often been asked why I choose to write about only one subject, and one that might seem macabre to the uninitiated,” says Moss. “But to me, Inga’s story is full of hope, vitality, beauty, mystery and poignancy. I felt a burning compulsion to make it my mission in life to memorialise her short life any way I could, and I approach each song from a different angle every time. It’s an endless source of inspiration to me. I suppose I could write in a conventional way about love, angst and the like, but that’s not me. I don’t have relationships, I don’t have holidays, pets or even a TV. Music is everything to me, it’s the greatest thing in the world, and the visionary vessel through which I connect to my muse and facilitate the flow of songs that provide a vehicle for her voice”.
Set for release on 20 February through Definitive Gaze, Girl On The Edge Of The World is preceded by the single 'Who Wants To See The World'...
