INTERNATIONAL SWINGERS SHOW

NEW PUNK-ROCK SUPERGROUP TO PLAY LONDON DATE

Featuring members of Blondie, The Sex Pistols, Generation X and Twenty Flight Rockers, new rock band The International Swingers will perform a special gig at The Lexington in Kings Cross, London, on Friday July 19th, 2013.

After forming last year, Blondie drummer Clem Burke, Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock, Chelsea/Generation X guitarist James Stevenson and Twenty Flight Rockers singer/guitarist Gary Twinn recently completed tour dates in Australia and North America’s west coast, where songs titled ‘Gun Control’ ‘Live Wire’ and ‘FBI’ were performed in addition to old favourites from the band members’ respective back catalogues.

The International Swingers’ date at The Lexington is invitation only, so for a chance to be on the guest list for this exclusive show fans are being asked to sign-up to the band’s mailing list at their website, ‘like’ their Facebook page or follow the band’s Twitter account.

Following regular airplay from the legendary radio disc jockey Rodney Bingenheimer on Los Angeles’ top radio station KROQ, as well as radio stations in Australia and Japan (where band’s controversial DIY video for ‘Gun Control’ has become one of the Top 5 most-watched videos on Japan’s George TV music channel), The International Swingers’ have made their demos available for free download from their website.

Clem Burke: "The swingers are a group of long-time mates, no one answered an advert to be in this band."

Gary Twinn: "For me, being in The International Swingers is a lot like being in your first ever band. When you’re at school you hang out with your best mates and someone says “I’ve got some drums, so you be the guitarist, you be the bass player, and you’ve got no instrument so you’ll have to be the singer”. That’s what it was like with us because we were already mates and used to hang out together -  then one day I asked the others if they wanted to start a band to go on holiday to Australia. Clem plays drums, James plays guitar and Glen plays bass, and I can sing a bit. Sorted. The only difference was that I had a guitar, too."

Glen Matlock described his new band mates as “the mustard", while James Stevenson said, "Apparently, according to journalist Mick Mercer, I've been in 72% of all known bands - but I only have one favourite band."
