UK reggae legends STEEL PULSE are to be the subject of a new documentary film. And fans are being invited to contribute to the making of it.
Directed by filmmaker Yoni Gal and produced by Gal with Oscar-nominated producer Mike Lerner, Dreadtown follows the band from their origins in Handsworth, Birmingham in the mid-70s through their US success during the 80s and 90s and beyond.
Narrated by Hollywood star Danny Glover, the film will feature interviews with a diverse cast of interviewees including Burning Spear, Aswad, UB40, John Lydon, Billy Idol, Rita Marley, Gwen Stefani, Matt Groening, Island Records founder Chris Blackwell, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, World Heavyweight Boxing Champion Lennox Lewis and more.
The band, together with Gal and Lerner, have launched an Indiegogo campaign offering a number of incentives for fans to contribute to the completion of the film, which is due for release at the end of 2016.
