THE GODFATHERS have revealed details of their new double A-side single, their first new music in nearly four years.
'Going Wrong' c/w 'Lesbian Cafe' follow belatedly on from 2022's widely praised Alpha Beta Gamma Delta album and come ahead of their previously announced UK dates.
'Lesbian Cafe' features Devo's Josh Hager on guitar and synth, and is cited by founding frontman Peter Coyne as a genuine tribute to his LGBT heroes, party inspired by his visits to original '77 punk hangout Club Louise in Soho, which he says provided “a non-judgmental home from home for many people on the punk scene in the ‘70’s.”
Both tracks, he says, constitute a “truly exciting rock & roll social commentary and another sonic leap forward for the group.”
Released digitally through all the usual platforms, the two tracks will also be available on a limited edition 7" plus a 4-track CD with an alternate acoustic version of ‘Going Wrong’ and a special remix of 'Lesbian Cafe' by Hager. Set for release on 6 February, both formats are available to pre-order here.
As previously announced, the band play the following shows next month...
Wed 11 Feb – Voodoo Rooms, Edinburgh (w/The Primevals) tickets
Thurs 12 Feb – Brudenell Social Club, Leeds tickets
Fri 13 Feb – The 100 Club, London (w/The Witchdoktors) tickets
