GALLON DRUNK have their youth revisited with the release of a live show from 1992 as a DVD/CD set.
The release, which forms part of Edsel Records’ Access All Areas series, captures the band’s set at a charity concert at London’s Town & Country venue (now the Forum) in September of that year.
Recorded following the release of the band’s debut You, The Night… And The Music, the five-song set includes intense versions of that album’s ‘Some Fool’s Mess’, ‘Two Wings Mambo’ and ‘Just One More’, plus Clawfist singles ‘Draggin’ Along’ and ‘The Last Gasp’. Clocking in at half an hour, the performance features a guest appearance from sax-player Terry Edwards, prior to him becoming a permanent fulltime member.
Band frontman James Johnston told Vive Le Rock: "None of the band even realised the performance was being filmed, so it was a total surprise to finally see the gig some twenty-three years later. We're playing a lot of the very early material – and it's a pleasingly feral and very energised noise. Really glad this finally came to light, I'd forgotten how carefree, wild and improvised the band was in '92."
Other titles in the Access All Areas series include BUZZCOCKS, JAH WOBBLE, VIC GODARD, MONOCHROME SET and BLUE AEROPLANES.
