A crowdfunding page has been set up to help pay for CARDIACS' main man Tim Smith's healthcare costs.
Tim suffered a cardiac arrest in 2008, leaving him with severe brain damage and a neurological condition called dystonia.
Tim has limited ability to move and speak, but treatment has shown some improvement in his condition. However, a shortfall in funding has meant that his treatment has been inconsistent.
It is believed that, through crowdfunding, Tim will improve enough to use a computer to make music.
Formed in 1977, Cardiacs developed a highly original sound, fusing punk, psych and progressive influences, earning them little in the way of commercial success, but a loyal international following with such bands as Radiohead, Blur Faith No More and Napalm Death citing them as an influence.
Since Tim's illness musicians and fans alike have been involved in numerous fundraising activities including benefit gigs and a tribute album. For more information and/or to donate, go to Tim's JustGiving page.
