FLESH FOR LULU are to have a 'new' album released, thirty-four years since their last album and eight years since the sad passing of singer/guitarist Nick Marsh.
Time & Matter Recordings have announced the news that they will be releasing the album later this year, "comprising 14 previously unreleased, quite superb, stunning tracks", recorded as studio demos in the early 1990s, originally as a follow up to the band's 1989 album Plastic Fantastic.
The album title COSMIC MIND FUCK is taken from a Nick Marsh doodle found on a reel-to-reel box which contained some of these 'lost' tracks, with the line up on these recordings being Marsh (lead vocals, guitar), Rocco Barker (guitar, backing vocals), Del Greening (guitar, bass, keyboards, backing vocals) and
Hans Persson (drums, backing vocals).
All profits from the sale of the album, released with the full blessing of Marsh's family, will be donated to a cancer charity in his memory.
All the tracks have been carefully and lovingly restored from old tapes which both Barker and Greening sourced from their own personal archives during ‘lockdowns’.
Greening exclusively told Vive Le Rock, "Following the band’s split in 1992, Flesh For Lulu guitarist Rocco Barker pestered me the next fifteen years to track down the master tapes from these various sessions we had recorded while trying to get a record deal to make the band's follow-up to Plastic Fantastic. Despite being convinced I didn't have them, I eventually discovered some old tapes and cassettes amongst the cobwebs at the back of my attic in Brighton. On one of the boxes, singer, the late great Nick Marsh, had scribbled some artwork and the words 'Cosmic Mind Fuck' were emblazoned across the front of one of the boxes... It was time to ‘Let them Shine!’"
The artwork for the cover has been specially commissioned - an art painting of a Nick Marsh photo with the doodle artwork tape box cover providing the album’s back cover artwork - while the accompanying booklet will feature written tributes to Nick's life and talents from family members, bandmates and other musicians he influenced.
