MOTÖRHEAD legend Fast Eddie Clarke is to be celebrated with a new box set.
The guitarist, who joined the band in 1976, recorded six albums with them, including the card-carrying classics Overkill, Bomber, Ace Of Spades and the live landmark No Sleep 'til Hammersmith. Following his departure in 1982, he'd find US success with the band Fastway.
The four-CD box set Make My Day: The Rock ‘n’ Roll Story Of Fast Eddie Clarke features a disc each of both of these bands, featuring rare demos, some featuring bassist Pete Way, his original partner in Fastway.
There's also a disc of rare recordings from his under-investigated pre-Motörhead bands Continuous Performance and Zeus, with soul legend Curtis Knight, as well as shortlived side-project The Muggers with Philthy Animal Taylor, Thunderclap Newman frontman Speedy Keen and Heartbreakers bassist Billy Rath.
A selection of tracks from Clarke's two latterday solo albums It Ain’t Over ‘Till It’s Over and Make My Day: Back To The Blues, recorded with Shakatak’s Bill Sharpe.
Pride of place, however, goes to a 320-page biography by veteran rock journalist and Vive Le Rock contributor Kris Needs along with Clarke’s widow Mariko Fujiwara.
