DAYS OF SWINE AND ROSES!

DAYS OF SWINE AND ROSES!

Texan tearaways THE OXYS are back with a brand new single and video.

The rampaging 'Idiot Box' is taken from the Austin band's third album Casting Pearls Before Swine, their first for Cleopatra, which is out on 19 September.

Frontman Phil Davis describes the track as "a scathing broadside against the hypnotic pull of screens, from the cathode ray glow of our past to the glass slabs in our pockets. Every device becomes another pacifier, another distraction, numbing us to the raw, unfiltered reality outside the frame. Life, the song argues, is meant to be visceral—something you live in the flesh, not stream in the background."

"Ah yes, the perils of modern society," adds guitarist and co-founder Jason 'Ginchy' Kottwitz. "How many things or opportunities for interaction with others are missed because they are staring at their personal devices. I wrote the music and lyrics to the chorus. I passed it off to Phil at this point to finish the puzzle. This is actually my favourite way to write with Phil. Give him a half-painted picture and let him finish it. A true collaboration. Obviously, the term Idiot Box was coined decades ago, but it still rings true."

Casting Pearls Before Swine is available to pre-order physically here and digitally here.
