CULT FIGURES ON THE MARKET!

Original Midlands punks CULT FIGURES are back with a new video which they're premiering exclusively with Vive Le Rock!

'Mr Producer' is the opening cut from the Birmingham-born now London-based band's forthcoming third album Between Us And Heaven, which follows on from 2021's widely praised Deritend and represents their first new music since the sad death of founding frontman Gary Jones last year.

Since then the band have regrouped with the recruitment of new singer Fraser Gillespie and guitarist Steve May from Das Fluff, recording their new album with producer John A Rivers (Love & Rockets, Dead Can Dance, Buzzcocks) at his Woodbine Street Studios in Leamington Spa - the same location where they recorded their now classic debut single 'Zip Nolan' (featuring Swell Maps) in 1979.

"For the 'Mr Producer' video I had the idea to shoot the film in slow motion, but have Fraser appear to sing the song at normal speed," explains guitarist and video-maker Jon Hodgson. "We chose to shoot one summer Sunday in Borough Market near London Bridge. Fraser had the tough challenge of performing the song sped up by 250%. He looked quite ridiculous in real time, but once it was slowed down the film had a pleasingly dreamy effect as the hoards of shoppers and tourists floated past, mostly unaware that they were being filmed. We shot the video as a single shot in one take, which is just as well as we didn’t have permission to be filming there!"

Set for release on 20 October through Gare du Nord, Between Us And Heaven is available to pre-order here.
