CRYMWAV FLICKING THE V'S!

CRYMWAV FLICKING THE V'S!

Fresh outta the traps, West Coast rockers CRYMWAV are premiering their debut video with Vive Le Rock!

Pronounced 'Crimewave', the L.A. quartet were formed out of the ashes of much-missed glamsters Smash Fashion, who will be no strangers to Vive Le Rock readers. The band finds Fashion guitarists Roger Deering and Lloyd Stewart Casson hooking up with Goatsnake and former Obsessed drummer Greg Rogers and bassist Bruce Braddock, Deering's former oppo from 80s Miami punks, The Drills.

'American Carnage' is the first track to be revealed from their debut six-track mini-album 24/7, which takes its name from the address of their rehearsal space. The idea for the band, Deering says, came on a recent trip to London...

“I spent some time in Ladbroke Grove, I brought my guitar and wrote a bunch of newer, darker material. I felt I was channelling the vibes of the area… Hawkwind, Motörhead and The Clash…" He also cites the likes of Thin Lizzy, The Damned, The Ruts, UFO as influences, while the band also pays tribute the the late, lamented Algy Ward with a cover of the Tank classic 'Walking Barefoot Over Glass'.

“We’ve been through the record deals, the drugs, the ups and downs,” says Deering. “We've all gone through the rock wars and are still going. It's what we do."

24/7 is due out on 27 October through Electric Pudding.
