Pioneers of Australian post-punk nGothic, CRIME & THE CITY SOLUTION have announced a brand new album.
The band's sixth studio album, and first in over a decade, The Killer is being trailed this week by a video for the typically haunting track 'Peace In My Time'.
Originally formed in Sydney in 1977 by singer Simon Bonney, the band resurfaced in London in the mid 80s with a new line-up featuring ex-Birthday Party alumni Rowland S Howard and Mick Harvey, releasing the now classic The Dangling Man EP followed by their debut full-length Room Of Lights for Mute.
Sojourns in Berlin and Detroit have seen the band's line-up fluctuate over the years, to include members of Swell Maps, Einsturzende Neubauten, DAF, The Dirty Three and 16 Horsepower, but with Bonney and violinist wife Bronwyn the mainstays. Their most recent album was 2013's American Twilight.
Conceived as part of a PhD application and inspired by Bonney's work delivering aid programmes across the Indo-Pacific region, The Killer was recorded once more in Berlin featuring a new line-up including Frederic Lyenn (piano, bass, synth), Donald Baldie (guitar), Georgio Valentino (synth, guitar), Chris Hughes (drums, percussion) and Joshua Murphy (piano, guitar), as well as producer Martin J. Fiedler, who also added synth and mellotron.
Set for release on 20 October through Mute, The Killer is available to pre-order here.
