Less than two weeks to go to London's LOUD WOMEN festival, championing new music from grassroots female and non-binary talent.
The seventh event in the series, this year it takes over Shoreditch's Rich Mix venue on Saturday 16 September, and for the first time this will be an all-ages event, allowing parents to bring their offspring to inspire the next generation of musicians.
Demonstrative of Loud Women's global reach, this year's event will feature bands from Germany (Breezy), Turkey (Hipersona), Ireland (Vernon Jane) and the USA (ShyGodwin, The Dollheads (pictured)) long with the latest crop of homegrown talent from the UK, including COWZ, FFSYTHO?!, I, Doris, LibraLibra, PUSSYLIQUOR, Samba Sisters, Sassyhiya, Shallow Honey, The Empty Page, The Kut, Where We Sleep and WOLFS.
The not-for-profit event will also feature representations from such organisations and speakers as Safe Gigs for Women, Bloody Good Period, Janine Booth, Janey Starling – Level Up and Alliance for Choice.
“There’s absolutely no excuse in 2023 for festivals not to be booking at least 50% female musicians," says event founder Cassie Fox. "Gender equality makes all areas of life more balanced and harmonious – especially in music!”
