Aussie post-punks SCREENSAVER announce their new album with a brand new single and video.
'Context Is Everything' is the first music to be shared from the Melbourne quintet's forthcoming third album Three Lens Approach which is set for release next month through Upset The Rhythm (UK) and Poison City (AU).
The track is “an ode to the confusion of the modern world and the idea of ‘context collapse,’” according to singer/synth-player Krystal Maynard. “The world we live in moves at a frantic pace and often there is no time to gather context. Communication and language has always been a tool of power to twist and manipulate information but even more so in these current times where politicians and oligarchs seek to control global narratives to suit their agendas. By the time news reaches you, it may arrive with little or any of its original context. What is printed, what is omitted makes a difference, language matters and context is everything. The title of the album refers to the way that perspective plays a vital role in how we view everything, the world around us. Thinking of multiple perspectives allows us to see life through a more humanist lens.”
Starting life as a trans-Pacific collaboration between Maynard and Christopher Stephenson of Austin noise-rockers Spray Paint, screensaver had evolved into a full band by the time of their debut album, 2021's Expressions Of Interest which was followed two years later by Decent Shapes. Along the way the band have shared stages with the likes of Tropical Fuck Storm and COFFIN, as well as playing a first UK tour in the Summer of '24.
The band plan to return here for dates in the Spring.
