MARK ASTRONAUT, founder, frontman and songwriter with legendary Hertfordshire anarcho-psych-punks THE ASTRONAUTS, is to be celebrated with a one-day festival next month.
Formed by Mark and friends in Welwyn Garden City in 1977, The Astronauts emerged out of the free festival scene and as an ever-evolving and much-loved entity were a vehicle for Mark's songs, playing numerous gigs and releasing several albums, EPs and singles on vinyl, CDr and cassette through such labels as Bugle, Acid Stings, Irregular, All The Madmen and Grow Your Own.
Mark sadly passed away last year but the band's final album, LP, has just been released and is available here.
You're All Weird Festival - A Celebration Of Mark Astronaut and The Astronauts takes place at Hitchin's Club 85 on 21 October from 2pm 'til 11pm and features sets from Hagar The Womb, Billy Lunn from The Subways, Eastfield, Robb Johnson, Bellzzz, Andy T, Steve Lake from Zounds, Anthrax, Los Chicos Muertos and Temporal Comet.
The event will be headlined by the remaining Astronauts, fronted by guest vocalist Wasp from Rites Of Hadda, playing old and new selections from the band's songbook.
Tickets are on sale here.
