Big Cheese magazine’s mega last gig, the Big Cheese Big Send Off-All Dayer, is stoked to announce three headliners, LAGWAGON, THE KING BLUES and KING PRAWN are all confirmed to play the all-day event.
The venue's also been changed from O2 Shepherds Bush Empire to O2 Forum Kentish Town! The original choice has become available, so they’re moving to north London with a bigger capacity and bigger dance floor! The date is the same - Sunday 17 July - and doors still open at 2pm.
First up, Californian skate punks, the mighty Lagwagon who have been a staple of Big Cheese magazine since they started in 1996 and it is great to have this legendary Fat Wreck band on the bill. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for The King Blues after reforming in November 2015; the release of comeback record Off With Their Heads, epic live shows and now with a new line-up, the Londoners are looking forward to a date in their hometown. Itch says: “I'm super excited to be playing the Big Cheese bash, the line-up's dope – see you there!” Joining them both and bringing their self-proclaimed ‘wildstyle’ to the stage is King Prawn who add: “We are chuffed to be part of this massive Big Cheese send off in support of Shelter. We'll be blasting through some old favourites as well as a couple of new tunes from our forthcoming fifth album. A big thanks to the guys for the support they've given us over the years, we wish them further success with the new mag, Vive Le Rock!”
These awesome headline acts join a line-up which features some of the UK's best bands of the last 15 years and those who are best connected to Big Cheese magazine, its ethos and its record label, Deck Cheese Records: Sonic Boom Six, Vanilla Pod, The Bar Stool Preachers, The Setbacks and Jesse James are also reforming for this rare, one-night-only show in the capital.
Sonic Boom Six vocalist Laila K says: “The Big Cheese crew hold a special place in my heart. From day one, the support we’ve received has kept us going as a band. It’ll be a very sad day, but we’ll raise our glasses to all they’ve achieved.”
An all-day affair and suitably sponsored by Jagermeister, there will be a special compere, and Big Cheese DJs playing the best in skate punk, ska punk, ska, reggae, rock and punk from the 2000s and beyond! The Big Cheese - Big Send Off! will also feature record stalls and all-day shenanigans with proceeds from this massive, farewell Big Cheese gig, donated to Shelter.
“An all-day gig to celebrate 20 years of the UK’s original street culture and music magazine – cool shit all day”
