ANYONE FOR DENIZ?

ANYONE FOR DENIZ?

DENIZ TEK, guitar linchpin of Aussie rock'n'roll legends RADIO BIRDMAN, has a new solo album out next month.
The follow-up to 2013's acclaimed Detroit, the 12-track Mean Old Twister is released on 30 September through ever-reliable Australian indie, Citadel Records.
Originally from Ann Arbor, Michigan, Tek formed Radio Birdman after relocating to Australia to train as a doctor.  Heavily inspired by the Detroit rock scene, he's gone on to work with various members of the STOOGES, the MC5, THE RATIONALS and SONIC'S RENDEZVOUS BAND on subsequent projects. Amazingly he found time to record Mean Old Twister between tours with Birdman and working as an emergency freelance trauma surgeon.
The album features the same band from the Detroit album - bassist Bob Brown and sometime ATOMIC ROOSTER and SPINAL TAP drummer, Ric Parnell. Mixing of the album was supervised by noted producer and Birdman frontman Rob Younger, while the album's sleeve features Tek's faithful Epiphone Crestwood, obtained from the MC5's Fred 'Sonic' Smith.
To celebrate, Tek plays a couple of Australian launch shows in Sydney and Newcastle in early October. Full details are on his website. Book your flight now!
