Original punks ALTERNATIVE TV return next month with their first new album in fourteen years.
The band, put together in 1976 by Sniffin’ Glue fanzine founder and former bank clerk Mark Perry – aka Mark P – release Opposing Forces through Public Domain Records on 10 July. The album was produced and mixed by the band’s drummer, Dave Morgan of The Loft, The Weather Prophets and The Rockingbirds fame, at his Big Fish studio in St Albans.
Originally coming together at Throbbing Gristle’s Industrial Studios in Hackney, early recordings featured Genesis P-Orridge on drums. Playing their first gig in Nottingham supporting The Adverts in May ’77, their line-up has been fluid throughout the years, with Perry also maintaining a solo career and stints with the Good Missionaries and The Door And The Window.
The closest they came to a hit was ‘Action Time Vision’ on Deptford Fun City Records in 1978.
The current line-up features Perry, Morgan, Lee McFadden and Clive Giblin on guitars and Steve Carter on bass. They’re in the process of lining up a series of dates.
