A NEW TAKE FROM THE CHORDS!

A NEW TAKE FROM THE CHORDS!

CHRIS POPE of late-70s mod revivalists THE CHORDS unveils the debut album by a new configuration, THE CHORDS UK, next month.
With original frontman Billy Hassett now living in Tokyo and performing the band's repertoire with THE J-CHORDS, guitarist and songwriter Pope put together a new UK-based line-up in 2012. Featuring bassist Mic Stoner, drummer Kenny Cooper and guitarist Sandy Michie, the band issued their debut EP Get Famous last Autumn.
The band now presents Take On Life, recorded with top producer and former VIBRATORS bassist Pat Collier. Talking about the album, Pope says, “I got sent a bootleg of The Chords’ last ever gig from The Marquee almost 35 years ago and it struck me how different the songs for the [never made] second album sounded. A total sea change from the blood and thunder of the first 18 months of our recording career with a new singer and a new approach to the band. I had always wondered what that follow-up would have sounded like. So, I took four of the previously unreleased songs from the bootleg and re-worked them to reflect where we are now. Two of these, ‘Burning All Around’ and ‘Home Sweet Home’, made it into Take On Life."
Take On Life is set for release on 2 September. It's available to pre-order now from Amazon and iTunes.
The band play a special album launch at the 100 Club, London on the same date. Tickets priced £12.50 are available here.
