2Tone punk-jazz supergroup, THE NEAR JAZZ EXPERIENCE - aka The NJE - invoke the spirit of Bowie on their new EP!

A Record Store Day-only release, Character Actor was recorded with legendary Bowie pianist Mike Garson, who made his first live appearance on the Ziggy Stardust tour, joining the sessions for the Aladdin Sane album and numerous albums throughout Bowie's career, including his momentous Glastonbury 2000 performance.

Comprising Terry Edwards and Simon Charterton of The Higsons and Mark 'Bedders' Bedford of Madness, the band invited Garson to contribute after Edwards had toured with him. Having agreed, Garson composed, played and delivered his solo for the track within 24 hours.

A strictly limited edition vinyl 12", the EP also features four brand new songs from the sessions for - but not on - the band's new album.

Character Actor is available only on Record Store Day, 20 April 2024.

The trio have announced three RSD live appearances on the South Coast at...

The Vinyl Frontier, Eastbourne (1pm)
Music's Not Dead, De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill-on-Sea (3pm)
Dark Circles, St Leonard's-on-Sea (5pm)

The NJE then play The Haggerston, 438 Kingsland Rd, Dalston, London on 23 April.
