ADAM AND THE ANTS

Last month Vive Le Punk asked you who you wanted to see reform in 2010.  The clear winner with 38% was Adam and The Ants.  Here we have a look into what Adam and his Ants did after they split.

The front man, Mr Adam Ant-alias Stuart Goddard is the most recognisable and many people know that he went on to have solo success once the band split in 1982. He charted with the album Friend or Foe but this is the only real success he had with his solo career. During his time as a solo artist he worked with many big names in the music industry including Phil Collins. Ant was also invited to play Live Aid, only for Ant to be told he could only perform one song-‘Vive Le Rock’ and this is often credited as harming his career. After this he decided to focus on acting in America. Ant appeared in several U.S TV shows like Sledge Hammer! Tales From The Crypt and Northern Exposure. Since his time in the band Ant has also had some run-ins with the law, including the infamous incident in Kentish Town that saw him throw a car alternator through a pub window and pull a gun on the punters inside. Most recently Ant has written his autobiography and is back writing music once more after a recent acoustic performance.
Guitarist Marco Pirroni has had some great success with his new band The Wolfmen. After a brief stint of working with Sinead O’ Connor, Pirroni wanted to get back to writing his own music. So along with fellow Ant Chris Constantinou he formed The Wolfmen who have just released excellent new album Married To The Eiffel Tower.  Other former Ants Kevin Mooney and Chris Hughes have been under the radar with their work. Mooney has done several side projects but nothing of real great note. While Hughes also, known as Merrick, has become a successful record producer.
The big question now is, with the two main influences in the band back in music, will the band reform in 2010?
