This is the ultimate anthology of Stiff Records, charting 30 years of one

of Stiff `The World’s Most Flexible label’ across 98 tracks , from number
one hits to rare curiosities, and a 68 page full colour booklet.

REVIEWS:

Stiff Records will go down in history as the most important UK independent
label ever. During its thirty years the Stiff staff have released some of
the most legendary punk and new wave records of all time, covering every
cool musical revolution first and with style. This is a hundred track
slice of punk and new wave history, complete with 68 page book. "If it
ain’t Stiff it ain’t worth a f*ck!"

4 Stars [ El Prez - Big Cheese]

It is a boxed set to live with. This immense collection spans three
decades, concluding with 2007 curiosities such as the Trevor Horn, Lol
Creme and Chris Braide collective The Producers, Stiff Records will
forever remain evocative of pre and post-punk innocence. Songs from this
era sparkle and it’s inspiring to be reacquainted with Lowe’s ’Heart Of
The City’ and Larry Wallis’ ’Police Car’. Punk wades in thrillingly with
the classic opening shots from the Damned’s ’New Rose’ and ’Neat Neat
Neat’, both of which still catch the heart and hurtle you towards a whole
new attitude. It is the crazed underbelly acts Pointed Sticks, Jane Aire &
the Belvederes, Passion Puppets and even dear old Max Wall who add exotic
elements to the legacy of this most beloved of record labels. 4 Stars
[Mick Middles - Rock N Reel]

"Essential punk and new wave box set" Recently reactivated with their
latest signings The Tranzmitors and The Producers (included here), this is
a hundred track slice of punk and new wave history, complete with 68 page
book. [4 Stars, El Pres - Vive Le Punk Website]

This is a comprehensive, overview of the ground breaking stiff label,
covering its entire 30-year history, from early pioneers like Elvis
Costello and Nick Lowe to contemporary hit makers The Enemy. [Music Week]

You can’t really argue with four discs that provide some of the catchiest
indie tunes of the late 70s/early 80s and are following up that legacy
with newbies very much in the mould of the golden oldies. [4 stars, Jenni
Cole - OMH]

Not a greatest hits, this comp revels in Stiff’s eclecticism; the cult
delights of Department S and The Untouchables providing frantic high
points. [Jon Harrington, MOJO]

How’s this for a roster: The Damned, The Pogues, Elvis Costello and
music-hall legend Max wall? Between 1976 and 1987 Stiff Records were, if
nothing else, eclectic, as this chunky box (four discs and a book)
demonstrates. Like its 1981 Tenpole Tudor hit, simply Wunderbar. [4 stars,
Simon Goddard, Q]

We’re sold on this just for Max Walls Englands glory. Oh, you’re looking
for guitar highlights? How about Motorheads hard-rocking White Line Fever
or the bittersweet 50s throwback lead lines on Alvin Stardusts Pretend?
This box set proves that the UKs anarchic Stiff label brought us the great
(Nick Lowe), the even-more-great (Elvis Costello) and some right old
cheese (Dave Stuart and Barbara Gaskin). Gawd bless em. [Guitar Mag]
