NEW BRUCE FOXTON ALBUM

Bruce Foxton & Russell Hastings line up new album Smash The Clock for October 2015 release

Two years on from the 2012 release of the critically acclaimed ‘Back In The Room’, Bruce Foxton and Russell Hastings are returning to the studio to record a new album titled ‘Smash The Clock’. The news was announced on crowdfunding site PledgeMusic, with Bruce saying “Its [Back In The Room’s] success was made possible by Pledge Music and, in turn, by you the public getting involved, for which we can’t thank you enough. The initial demos are sounding great and Russ & I can’t wait to start recording in early January. As on the last album we will have a few guest appearances, which we’re really excited about.”

Original The Jam bassist Bruce Foxton and guitarist & vocalist Russell Hastings tour as From The Jam. Bruce’s power and force still drives the classics with the same fullness and intensity as they have for the last three decades.

Russell Hastings is the only frontman other than Weller to have worked with both Bruce Foxton and Rick Buckler (former The Jam drummer). His passion and understanding of The Jam has entitled him to be credited by fans and critics alike as the perfect candidate to respectfully and admirably slip into the shoes of former The Jam frontman Paul Weller, with whom he also worked alongside in 2011.

From The Jam are currently touring the 1979 The Jam album Setting Sons.

DANKO JONES NEW ALBUM AND VIDEO!

DANKO JONES ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM FOR FEBRUARY 2015

NEW SONG & VIDEO UNVEILED RIGHT NOW

Eighteen years. Twelve albums. Two Gold Records. Thirty-plus transatlantic treks. Fifteen Top 40 singles. Arena tours across 11 countries with Guns N Roses. A video trilogy starring Elijah Wood and Ralph Macchio. A feature- length documentary. An oral-history biography. Personal invites from Lemmy to join Motörhead on the road (and on water, for the 2014 Motörboat cruise). For most bands, that would amount to a hell of a career. For Toronto trio Danko Jones, it’s called “warming up.”

Now the time has come to announce the next chapter in Danko Jones history – 11 brand new tracks that comprise the album ‘Fire Music’, set for release in the UK on February 9, 2015 as digipack CD and vinyl LP. The record is produced & mixed by Juno Award winning producer Eric Ratz (Billy Talent, Monster Truck, Cancer Bats).

Check out a taste of things to come by way of scorching new track ‘Gonna Be A Fight Tonight’. Danko Jones are taking no prisoners nor sparing any survivors! The accompanying video includes footage from the 2014 Motörhead cruise, a show at Stockholm’s Gröna Lund amusement park, and the recording of the new album. Watch on YouTube at: http://youtu.be/e04SBHtbfl4. You can also find the track on Spotify and via iTunes.

‘Fire Music’ is an album that burns at both ends, showcasing Danko Jones at their most energetic and eclectic. Look forward to some of the most incendiary, fierce, and downright pissed-off songs Danko Jones has ever committed to tape. Imagine a greatest-hits career retrospective made up of all-new material, delivering blasts from the past but blazing trails into the future. “I got a date with dynamite,” Danko sang back in 1996 by way of introduction, “if you got the guts, well, light my match.” On ‘Fire Music’, that offer still stands.

For more info and to pre-order the album, visit: http://www.dankojones.com/fire-music/ (album artwork and new band photo attached).

BLOW UP CLUB MONES TO ST MORITZ

Blow Up :  New Friday Residency for 2015 // NYE Party at St. Moritz Soho

We’re pleased to announce that Blow Up will return to Soho for a weekly Friday night at the St Moritz Club, Wardour St – in January 2015 and will be preceded by a Blow Up New Year’s  Eve event at the venue.

Blow Up founder and DJ Paul Tunkin will be booking a live act each week to perform as part of the night.

St. Moritz Club is a basement venue in the heart of Soho, and one of the last ‘original’ venues in the West End, virtually unchanged since the 60s.
Paul Tunkin said "I have always wanted to do a night in St Moritz and have we’ve finally got around to it!"

Please note Blow Up will also be returning to Peckham’s Bussey Building for club events south of the river where we have been operating from since 2013.

ABOUT THE BLOW UP CLUB:

CLUB HISTORY: October 16th 2014, marked exactly 21 years to the day when doors opened to the Blow Up club for the first time. A bona-fide legendary club night, being at the centre of the early to mid-Nineties Brit Pop explosion, cited as the catalyst and birth place of the Brit Pop scene and influencing the style and sound of a generation. Blow Up was voted as No.4 in Time Out’s Top Ten Clubs of the 90s, one of ‘5 Classic Clubs of Our Time’ by Vox Magazine (alongside The Blitz Club and Shoom) and as ‘The club that changed the world’ by Melody Maker. More recently Blow Up appeared in Time Out’s London Calling which described the club as "the breeding ground of the Brit Pop sound" and in NME’s Original’s Top Ten Britpop Moments.

From its origins at The Laurel Tree, Camden Town (1993-1996), to Soho venues the Wag Club (1996-2001) the Metro Club (2002-2009, for which Blow Up programmed the music and ran the award winning venue), and through various London venues since (2009-2014), Blow Up is one of London’s longest running club nights. Blow Up has hosted events in Europe, and further afield including events in USA, Russia and Japan, whilst the club compilations (‘Blow Up A-Go-Go!‘ and ‘Blow Up presents Exclusive Blend) have proved hugely popular worldwide: the former was a genre defining compilation of tracks from the club’s dance floor (mostly 60s originals), the latter a ground breaking compilation series, and one of the first to introduce the world to the delights of 60s & 70’s library music.

The club also spawned Blow Up Records, a London based independent label that began a few months later in 1994. Music on the label ranges from British and International Alternative Pop to Hammond-heavy Boogaloo, from New Wave to Electronic Music and Psychedelia. Releases include the aforementioned compilations, early output including debuts from The Weekenders and Add N to X, and from recent acts such as Alfa 9, Baltic Fleet, Big Boss Man, The Bongolian and new artists David Woodcock and Daiquiri Fantomas, reflecting the label’s continuing eclectic outlook.

BLOW UP PLAYLIST: Expect classic tracks from both Blow Up’s past and present: from Brit Pop era favourites to the current new Pop stylists putting the art back into pop . . . colliding with 60’s Dancefloor sounds of Soul, Beat, Garage, Funk, Ska, Swinging Soundtracks, Hammond Heavy Jazz, Pop Electronique, Easy Listening & Ye-Ye! French Pop and Brit Pop, Glam, Mod & New Wave Action.

IN SHORT:

Dig Thy Savage Soul is a wealth of atomic-powered, sock it to me R&B and rock & roll hoodoo. Barrence, possessing otherworldly pipes that range from a low feral growl rumbling the nether regions to a scream that would make Little Richard blush, belts out originals and crate-diver covers with the formidable and aptly-named Savages. They keep his back with a punk rock grit and blues ferocity that lives in the frets between Chuck Berry and Jack White. Together, Barrence and the Savages lay down a groovy racket that’s so thick and greasy, you need moist towelettes near the hi-fi.

Barrence Whitfield and the Savages shot out of Boston in the mid-‘80s with the force of a cannonball. Through their sweaty dance party shows and love of primal soul, they were to R&B what the Cramps were to rockabilly–a gateway musical drug for nascent underground roots mavens. Along with original Savages guitarist Peter Greenberg (The Lyres, DMZ) and bassist Phil Lenker, they released several records on Rounder, became a favorite of BBC DJ Andy Kershaw, toured with the likes of Bo Diddley, Tina Turner, and George Thorogood, and won seven Boston Music Awards. They re-united in 2011 with Savages Andy Jody on drums and Tom Quartulli on sax.

Pere Ubu’s new album Carnival of Souls has received much favourable attention this Autumn, not least with two tracks being chosen for character themes in Fox Network’s hit series, American Horror Story. Taking to the road with their new album in the UK and Iberia in November, the band will also be appearing in the Brighton Film Festival with a live underscore to X, Man with the X Ray Eyes. David Thomas, founder and lead singer, includes himself when he describes the band as ‘cogs,’ working towards a perfection of the machine that is the Pere Ubu project. David Thomas is joined by Pere Ubu’s Robert Wheeler (Electronics and Theremin), Keith Moliné (Guitar), Gagarin (Electronica and Keyboard), Darryl Boon (Clarinet and Musette) and Steve Mehlman (Drums).

For UK dates Pere Ubu will be playing two sets. The opening show will be approx 35-40 minutes, performed by ‘The Pere Ubu Moon Unit’ – a subset of the group that will be reprising the method of improvisation that was showcased in last year’s ‘Visions of the Moon’ tour. It is likely, therefore, that audience members will have exclusive insight to the cogs working the beginnings to  Pere Ubu’s next album, which is reported to be the culmination of the ‘Orange’ trilogy, joining the previous albums Lady from Shanghai and Carnival of Souls. The main show will be 65-70 minutes of the new album’s tracks, along with a range from the band’s eclectic history.

HERE’S WHAT PEOPLE ARE ALREADY SAYING ABOUT RE-LICKED

"An avalanche of raw riffs… and Williamson playing white-knuckled leads like he absolutely refuses to let the Stooges’ music go gentle into that good night." – PREMIER GUITAR

“Unsurprisingly brilliant.” – NME

"’I Gotta Right,’ the second single from Re-Licked, is a manic, guitar-blazing rocker featuring belter Lisa Kekaula of The Bellrays." – USA TODAY

“James Williamson’s aggressive guitar style may be the most influential in punk.” – NPR’s WORLD CAFE

"… hard-charging, fast-paced punk" – EXCLAIM!

"… a karmic correction" – Author/journalist HARVEY KUBERNIK

“James Williamson is on a mission. Revitalized after a reunion with The Stooges and further stoked by interest in his career he has been working hard on keeping The Stooges beating heart alive. Iggy may be having a break from this thing called rock and roll but James is having none of it. The results… a new album of re-recorded songs from the catalogue of Iggy Pop and James Williamson. Songs that never made it into the studio, some known from live shows, some not.
Re-Licked is kicking itself out of the garage with an intent to seek and destroy all naysayers, and along for the ride are some very special guest stars.” – ARTROCKER

“… gruff and propulsive” – CONSEQUENCE OF SOUND

“Properly recorded and no longer mired in sub-bootleg mire, the songs do indeed shine through.” – BUCKETFULL OF BRAINS

“James Williamson closes the loop of The Stooges’ past legend in the  best possible way.” – ROCK ON MAGAZINE / SPAIN

“Thankfully, there isn’t a single note on
Re-Licked that was phoned in. Every person involved in this momentous release clearly grasped the importance of the work being presented…. gearing up to be the Album of the Year.” – music critic JOEL GAUSTON

“…the ‘Great Lost Stooges’ album of 1974.” – OUT MAGAZINE

Re-Licked has enough energy, fine playing and (deep breath) convincing vocals to present as something unique in the canon of Stooge-inspired music. Get it.” – I-94 BAR

THURSDAY 20TH NOVEMBER 2014

100 CLUB, LONDON W1

Vic Godard & the Subway Sect are set to play a very special one off London show at the 100 Club on Thursday the 20th of November 2014.

For the first time ever, the original 1981 / 82 line up Vic Godard (vocals), Rob Marche (guitar), Sean McLusky (drums) and Chris Bostock (bass) will perform (in its entirety) their ‘SONGS FOR SALE’ album, originally released on London Records in 1982,

The night will also feature a full supporting bill from the legendary Club Left night where Godard and the band were weekly residents including the original Club Left DJ Johnny Britton and other special musical guests.

CLUB LEFT

In 1981 Vic Godard & The Subway Sect took up a Thursday night residency at the old Whisky A Go Go club on Wardour Street in Soho and named the night CLUB LEFT. In what was seen as a radical move at the time they set about rediscovering the original roots of the Soho scene in Jazz, Swing, Rock ’n’ Roll and Latin beats, honing a new set of Subway Sect material that became the album ‘SONGS FOR SALE’. Throughout the year the club night grew in infamy and became a key hang out for those in the know in the flourishing London club scene of the time. There were Club Left special events at Ronnie Scotts, Club Left warehouse parties plus the band toured with the club night around the UK and Europe to great success.

THE MEN THAT WILL NOT BE BLAMED FOR NOTHING DATES

 THE MEN THAT WILL NOT

BE BLAMED FOR NOTHING

*** The UKs biggest Steampunk band add Nottingham, York and Newcastle shows to autumn mini-tour, celebrating ‘kicking cancers arse’!  ***

genuinely inspired – Terrorizer

Rabble-rousing ,,, packed with droll Victoriana – Independent on Sunday

their timeline-defying sonics are as forward thinking as it gets – Rock Sound

full of silly steam punk stories thatll make you wet your bloomers or britches – Bizarre

Steampunk superstars The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing have announced a further three UK headline dates this autumn. The shows in Nottingham, York and Newcastle, plus a centerpiece hometown date at London’s Highbury Garage on November 14th, will be the band’s first appearances as a four piece since vocalist Andy Heintz was diagnosed with throat cancer this April.

Andy is now making a good recovery, and the band are once again firing on all cylinders.  Work is already underway on a third album, tentatively slated for release in Spring/Summer 2015, with some of the new material set to be debuted at the upcoming shows.  The group are inviting fans to join them in celebrating ‘kicking cancer’s arse’ at the following dates;

Fri 31st October – NOTTINGHAM, The Doghouse  (http://bit.ly/10e5I5U)

Fri 14th November LONDON, Highbury Garage (http://bit.ly/1rxUt2s)

Thurs 20th November – YORK, Fulford Arms (http://bit.ly/1vtK6ft)

Fri 21st November – NEWCASTLE, Think Tank (http://bit.ly/YGotxp)

Anarchic, anachronistic and truly inspired, The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing have been putting the ‘punk’ into ‘steampunk’ since 2008.  Blending tales of 1877 with the attitude of 1977, their highly original mix of horror, humour and history has seen them hailed as one of the 21st century’s most inventive acts, by critics everywhere from The Independent to Terrorizer, while their immersive, immensely fun live show has wowed crowds from Bestival to the Edinburgh Festival.  An ever-innovative recorded catalogue has included the first release on the archaic wax cylinder format for 70 years, caught the attention of EMI Records (who threatened legal action over the first album, Now Thats What I Call Steampunk! Vol 1), and seen them grow a devoted, globe-spanning fanbase, with the release of 2012s tongue-twisting follow-up, This May Be The Reason The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing Cannot Be Killed By Conventional Weapons.

Yes, quite literally nothing can hold this truly unique band back; not lawsuits, not conventional weapons, and now not even cancer.  While Andy has faced up to the hell of radiotherapy treatments over recent months, his bandmates occult comedian and Radio 4 personality Andrew ONeill (vocals/guitar), fellow stand-up comic Marc Burrow (bass/vocals), and ex-Lords of The New Church man Jez Miller (drums), have remained determined to keep the show on the road.  In June they played Glastonbury festival as a three-piece to a great response, before Marc and Andrew took their stand up show on a US tour The Men had been due to play, attracting rave reviews in New York, Pittsburgh, Chicago and Detroit, and playing a one-off performance as an acoustic duo at the Steampunk World Fair in New Jersey.

However, the most hotly-anticipated TMTWNBBFN shows of the year are still to come.  Their big comeback as a four-piece this autumn is definitely not to be missed!
