ALL RISE FOR RICHARD!

Legendary DOCTORS OF MADNESS founder RICHARD STRANGE has announced a one-off performance of his classic solo album The Phenomenal Rise Of Richard Strange.

Described as a ‘political fantasy concept’, the album was originally released in 1981, three years after the dissolution of the Doctors.

The show at London’s Bush Hall on Saturday 9 June will be the ‘first and only full and complete’ performance of the album, and will be delivered in a special cabaret-style setting with special guests and many surprises.

Formed in Brixton and described as “the missing link between David Bowie and The Sex Pistols”, The Doctors Of Madness were a huge influence on punk (Dave Vanian was even briefly a member), but being very much ahead of their time, were unable to reap any rewards. A box set retrospective released last year through Cherry Red was accompanied by some rapturously-received live shows.

Tickets for the Bush Hall show, priced £22, are on sale here.
