Adam Ant, the original Prince of new pop and iconic British musician, kicks off a UK winter tour on 11th November at Bristol’s O2 Academy. This tour follows Ant’s triumphant return to live performing earlier this year, after a 15 year hiatus.
In a career spanning more than 35 years Adam Ant has had ten top 10 singles with his band Adam and the Ants and also as a solo artist.
In 1981 Adam and the Ants turned pop music on its head. As well as reaching the number 1 spot with the singles ‘Stand And Deliver’ & ‘Prince Charming’, the songs became the number 1 and number 2 best-selling songs of the entire year.
Adam and the Ants disbanded at the end of 1981 but Adam also hit the number 1 spot in 1982 with his first solo single ‘Goody Two Shoes’.
With hundreds of shows performed in the UK since 1977, Adam has also toured extensively throughout the United States, mainland Europe, Australia and Japan.
Throughout the 80s and 90s Adam took up acting on the stage (Entertaining Mr Sloane & Greek), TV (The Equalizer, Tales from the Crypt& Northern Exposure) and also film (Love Bites, Slam Dance & Nomads) whilst still writing and producing music.
With 8 albums behind him Adam has completed two successful UK tours since playing at Under the Bridge, the purpose-built music venue at Chelsea football ground, in March 2011.
Expect to hear all the hits plus songs from his forth coming new album:
‘Adam Ant Is The Blueblack Hussar In Marrying The Gunner’s Daughter’.
The album is due for release in Jan/Feb 2012 and a sample track ‘Tough Men Tough Blokes’ can be heard on his web site: www.adam-ant.net and a promo video on You Tube at: http://youtu.be/1mu91mcF3kI
