THE GODFATHERS are to release a new EP next month, just as they are about to play a very special one-off London show.

The band returned earlier in the year with their first album in four years, the critically acclaimed A Big Bad Beautiful Noise and a highly successful tour of the UK and Europe which found them completely revitalised and, according to some reports, better than ever.

The limited edition 10-inch vinyl A Big Bad Beautiful EP features the title track from the album as well as a special High Voltage remix of the album cut and live favourite ‘Defibrillator’. It’s rounded out with two exclusive, previously unavailable tracks ‘You’re So Slow’ and ‘Human Zo0’.

Set for release through their own Godfathers Recordings on 16 June, it’s available to pre-order from their website.

As previously announced, The Godfathers play a special show at The Lexington in London on Saturday 24 June. Titled, naturally, A Big Bad Beautiful Night, the show will feature two sets by the band: one with them performing the latest album in its entirety, and a second, much longer, set, featuring Godfathers classics and treasures, many of which have not been played live in years.

The show will also feature special guests LOS PEPES, plus Godfathers band members DJing until 4am.

Tickets priced £14.00 plus booking fee are available now here.

Punk-blues fans delight as keyboard maestro JAMES LEG and triumphant Northern Irish guitar/drums duo THE BONNEVILLES continue their UK headline tour this month.

The tour kicked off on 3 May in Belfast, but there are still 10 more shows to got, including Leeds’ Brudenell Socail Club tonight (10 May) and a London show at the newly refurbished Borderline on next Wednesday 17 May.

The onetime John Wesley Myers of BLACK DIAMOND HEAVIES and THE IMMORTAL LEE COUNTY KILLERS released his second solo album Below The Belt to great acclaim in 2015. He’s recently followed it up with the supercharged, and appropriately titled, Blood On The Keys through Alive Naturalsound.

Check out ‘Human Lawn Dart’.

Hailing from Lurgan, fellow Alive-wires The Bonnevilles turned heads on their arrival with their fusion of humid Mississippi blues and stripped back Down By the Jetty malevolence. They’ve just followed up their head-turning Arrow Pierce My Heart with the vinyl-only early-recordings comp Listen For Tone.

Listen to ‘The Whiskey Lingers’.

Full dates below. Tickets available here.

It’s been announced that THE DAMNED have signed a new record deal with Search And Destroy records, in a joint venture with Spinefarm.

The new deal will see the punk legends release their first new album in nearly a decade. Due to be recorded this summer, it’ll be the belated follow-up to 2008’s Who’s Paranoid?

The news comes as the band resume their hugely successful 40th anniversary trek through the USA and Canada, briefly curtailed after Captain Sensible fell offstage in Toronto, breaking a rib. Forced to postpone 3 shows, they resumed the tour at the legendary Stone Pony club in Asbury Park, New Jersey with a the Captain seated on a toilet throne throughout.

The following day he said, “As movement is a bit awkward currently, I played last night seated, but it all went swimmingly and this epic 40th Anniversary tour is now firmly back on the road. We’ve played some great venues on the trip… and Asbury Park’s Stone Pony is up there with the best of ’em. But I have to say I wish I’d waited till here before backflipping off the stage, as this one was only 3 feet high. D’oh!”

The tour, with THE BELLRAYS in support, continues ’til the end of May, before the band return to Europe for a string of festival dates at….

1 June    Primavera Sound, Barcelona, Spain tickets
3 June   Camden Rocks, London, UK tickets
16 June  Hellfest, Clisson, France tickets
1 July     British Summer Time, London, UK tickets
7 July    Exit Festival, Novi Sad, Serbia tickets

Post-punk neo-psychedelicists TELEVISION PERSONALITIES are having their first four albums reissued this summer.

Formed in 1978 by Dan Treacy, the band caused a stir with the Where’s Bill Grundy Now EP and its indie dancefloor classic ‘Part Time Punks’, but it wasn’t until 1981 that they managed a full album. And Don’t The Kids Just Love It fused twee mod pop through a DIY post-punk blender and featured the track ‘I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives’, saddling them to the bubbling psychedelic revival.

Transitional second album Mummy Your Not Watching Me appeared in 1982 on Treacy’s own Whaam! label. Arguably an influence on the Medway Sound, it features the single ‘Painting By Numbers’.

They Could Have Been Bigger Than The Beatles is a collection of singles, outtakes and unreleased tracks which features ‘David Hockney’s Diary’ and ‘The Boy In The Paisley Shirt’ along with renditions of THE CREATION’s ‘Painter Man’ and ‘Making Time’.

After a brief hiatus, Treacy convened a new line-up for 1984’s altogether darker The Painted Word. Check out the video for the title track.

Having received a limited edition release for Record Store Day, all four albums will be reissued through Fire Records on 14 July on vinyl, CD and download. They’re available to pre-order here.

‘My Obsession’ is a joint release coupled with fellow Brummie rockers BLACK MEKON’s ‘Kung Future’ on that band’s 45 Consortium singles club.
