First up, Californian skate punks, the mighty Lagwagon who have been a staple of Big Cheese magazine since they started in 1996 and it is great to have this legendary Fat Wreck band on the bill. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for The King Blues after reforming in November 2015; the release of comeback record Off With Their Heads, epic live shows and now with a new line-up, the Londoners are looking forward to a date in their hometown. Itch says: “I’m super excited to be playing the Big Cheese bash, the line-up’s dope – see you there!” Joining them both and bringing their self-proclaimed ‘wildstyle’ to the stage is King Prawn who add: “We are chuffed to be part of this massive Big Cheese send off in support of Shelter. We’ll be blasting through some old favourites as well as a couple of new tunes from our forthcoming fifth album. Sonic Boom Six vocalist Laila K says: “The Big Cheese crew hold a special place in my heart. From day one, the support we’ve received has kept us going as a band. It’ll be a very sad day, but we’ll raise our glasses to all they’ve achieved.”

An all-day affair and suitably sponsored by Jagermeister, there will be a special compere, and Big Cheese DJs playing the best in skate punk, ska punk, ska, reggae, rock and punk from the 2000s and beyond! The Big Cheese – Big Send Off! will also feature record stalls and all-day shenanigans with proceeds from this massive, farewell Big Cheese gig, donated to Shelter.

Lonely Boy,  described as a “modern Dickensian tale”, recalls Jones’ West London youth, engaged in petty thievery before being inspired into music , like so many, by Bowie and Roxy Music, recruited by Malcolm McLaren to a life of fame and notoriety with the Pistols.

Written in collaboration with music journalist Ben Thompson, Lonely Boy is set to be published in hardback and e-book by William Heinemann on 17 November, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of the release of ‘Anarchy In The U.K.’. Pre-order the book through Amazon.

Suffolk goth-punk legends 13th CHIME return to Cambridge for a one-off show next month.

The recently reactivated Haverhill band, who were mainstays on Cambridge’s early 80s punk scene, play the city’s Portland Arms on Sunday 12 June, with support from THE HEARSE. Tickets are available here.

The gig follows on from the release of the download only album Noir, which is available via Bandcamp and iTunes.

Check out the video for the single ‘WitchTree Lane’.

First formed in 1980, 13th Chime released three singles, gigging regularly around East Anglia and Cambridge alongside such scene regulars as THE STORMED and FINAL SCREAM, splitting up in 1984 when frontman Mick Hand left to travel the world. Hand reconvened the band last year, joined by former member Rob Shaul plus Dave Middle and Jon Rickard from Final Scream. Middle, who had briefly replaced Hand in 1984, before going on the front THE VANISHING POINT has now switched to drums.

Burning Heart Records have announced the signing of Londoners BOOZE & GLORY.

True to their roots, and happy to be back where they belong, Burning Heart present a great growing and ambitious street punk band to join the roster.

Booze & Glory is in fact the second ‘Hammers’ band on Burning Heart. It’s pretty funny that the band actually recorded a song called ‘Back Where We Belong’, together with Mickey Fitz (The Business, ex-Burning Heart band). With that heartfelt and powerful slogan in mind, Burning Heart happily welcome these very international Londoners to their roster.

The Booze & Glory boys are currently touring the West Coast in the USA, and will soon also head over to South America. A few other festivals this summer will follow, including REBELLION and Back To The Future.

The band recently released a couple of new songs – ‘Blood From A Stone’ and ‘Carry On’ – that show the direction they are heading. Summer and autumn will now, apart from a few festival appearances, be spent writing and laying down songs for a new album to come out on Burning Heart in early 2017.

Vive Le Rock caught up with Booze & Glory while on tour in the US to talk about their new label and the future.

So Booze and Glory are in America right now. Hows your US tour going?

“So far, so good. We are playing six shows across the West Coast. So far we have played Long Beach, Pomona and San Diego with San Fransisco, Portland and Seattle up next. We played the US on the East Coast last year but this is our first time in California. We have a couple of days off before we hit San Fran and we’ve already all been tattooed, fired shot guns and ridden Harley Davidsons! We’ve met so many great people from all over the US and Mexico. Tomorrow we are going to be filming in Alcatraz Prison and visiting our mates at Pirates Press.”

And you have some big news to tell us about. We heard you have just signed to a pretty legendary Swedish record label!

“Yes, this label needs no introduction, just mention TURBONEGRO, THE HIVES, MILLENCOLIN and recently GIUDA. After years of partnership with Epitaph Records, Burning Heart Records are coming back with amazing new ideas and bands and we are really excited to announce that we have just joined them. We have signed a contract for the next two albums.”

When can we expect the new album and what are the songs sounding like right now? Any changes from your last album?

“It’s early days yet as we are still in the writing process at the moment, but if you have heard the latest singles ‘Carry On’ and ‘Blood From A Stone’, you will have good idea of what to expect. One thing we can promise is that it will be the best Booze & Glory album yet. We will be recording after the summer and will be released early 2017.”

The UK hasn’t seen enough of Booze & Glory lately. When can we expect a UK tour and more shows?

“Yes we know, and this will change next year for sure. We have not been playing in the UK a lot and, to be honest, there’s no reason behind it. There’s many places we have not played and there’s not enough time in the year. We are playing Rebellion Festival in Blackpool though and planning our annual London show by the end of this year hopefully.”

Former CRASS frontman STEVE IGNORANT has issued a new live album, recorded with his latest project SLICE OF LIFE last year.

Live At The Forum 2015 was recorded at the North London venue last October while the band were touring as special guests of SLEAFORD MODS.

Steve’s songwriting had been an influence on Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson, who invited Slice Of Life to support the Nottingham duo on the tour for their Key Markets album.

Musically, Slice Of Life is a considerable departure from Crass, featuring an acoustic line-up of Carol Hodge on piano and backing vocals, Pete Wilson on guitar and backing vocals and Pete Rawlinson on bass.

Available on download and vinyl, the album features four songs that have yet to be recorded. With preparations underway for a second studio album it was decided the pressing should be limited, so the vinyl is a one-off pressing of just 300 copies. It’s available to order here.
