Royal College of Art student Foxx founded Ultravox in the mid-70s, and while they were fuelled by punk, they delved deeper into pioneering electronic music, recording with noted German producer Conny Plank and influencing GARY NUMAN. Foxx left the band for a solo career in 1979, releasing his debut album Metamatic the following year. He has since gone on to carve a dual career in art and design.

The Lucky Strikes, who recently headlined a sell-out show at London’s Jazz Cafe, are set to release their fifth studio album in 2016, with a UK Tour to coincide. Meanwhile, frontman M G Boulter issues a new solo album in January.

TWISTED SISTER: THE MOVIE!

New York sleaze-rock legends TWISTED SISTER are the subject of a new documentary movie which gets a special UK preview in December.

The appropriately-titled We Are Twisted Fucking Sister, directed by Andrew Horn, is being screened at the Regal Picturehouse in Henley-on-Thames on Sunday 6 December, thanks to the dedication of longtime fan and Vive Le Rock contributor Guy Shankland. Tickets are £12 and are available here.

Watch the trailer.

Far from the globe-straddling major glam-rock titans they became, Twisted Sister included ex-members of THE DICTATORS and learned their craft on the NY club scene in the footsteps of the NEW YORK DOLLS. By the 80s, the unsigned band were playing hometown shows of up to 3,000, yet it took UK punk label Secret – then best known for THE EXPLOITED – to launch the band with a showstopping performance at the Reading Festival, featuring guest appearances from Lemmy and Fast Eddie Clarke from MOTORHEAD, and Pete Way from UFO. Their debut Under The Blade, produced by Way and featuring Clarke, was a bruising street-rock statement that was released in watered-down form for the US market when the band signed to Atlantic. Following the sudden death of drummer A J Pero earlier this year, the band announced that they would bow out with a final tour in 2016.

THE PARKINSONS BACK FROM NOWHERE!

Fifteen years after they first took to the streets of London, THE PARKINSONS are reuniting for two shows in December in celebration of a new documentary movie.

Directed and produced by Caroline Richards, A Long Way To Nowhere gets its world premiere on Monday 14 December at London’s Prince Charles Cinema. Get tickets! The screening will be followed by an after-party at the St Moritz Club in Wardour Street.

Before that though, the reunited band play dates in London and Brighton at….

Fri 11 Dec       The Finsbury, Manor House, London

Sat 12 Dec      Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar, Brighton

The Parkinsons formed when singer Afonso, guitarist Victor, and bassist Pedro relocated form their hometown of Coimbra, Portugal to London, in search of adventure, teaming up with Scottish drummer Chris Low. Sometimes compared to THE STOOGES, the band gained a reputation for chaos and nudity. Unravelling from 2003 onwards, the band reunited in Coimbra in 2011.

LAST GREAT DREAMERS BACK IN SCHOOL!

Rejuvenated rockers LAST GREAT DREAMERS continue their resurgence with a series of dates as special guests to RUNAWAYS legend CHERIE CURRIE next month.

They’ll be celebrating the tour with a brand new single ‘Dope School’ out on CD (with ‘White Light, Black Heart’) and download on 9 November. The release follows on from last year’s rarities compilation Crash Landing In Teenage Heaven.

Prior to the Cherie Currie dates – which represent the former Runaways frontwoman’s first UK tour in 35 years – Last Great Dreamers will be warming up by opening for rock/punk guitar hero BERNIE TORMÉ at The Wheatsheaf in Oxford on 7 November.

Says guitarist Slyder: “It was very important for us to have new material to show that we weren’t just on a nostalgia trip, as until now we have been playing stuff we wrote and recorded in the 90s… We started arranging and working on these songs in the rehearsal studio and the process was so exciting, we really can’t wait to play these songs live”.

Initially releasing their debut album in 1994, Last Great Dreamers were tipped for major success, with a number of support tours and sellout headline shows under their belts. Sadly the collapse of their record deal and a string of personal tragedies forced them to split in ’97.

Full dates are as follows…..

7 Nov – Wheatsheaf – Oxford

10 Nov – Railway – Bolton

11 Nov – Bannerman’s – Edinburgh

12 Nov – Yardbirds – Grimsby

14 Nov – The Globe – Newcastle

15 Nov – The Diamond – Sutton-in-Ashfield

16 Nov – Bierkeller – Bristol

17 Nov – The Robin 2 – Bilston

18 Nov – The Underworld – London
