The album features the single ‘Valley of Shadows’ – which has a lyric video counterpart available for viewing here: Abominator, which has been called by critics, “perhaps the best Misfits-related record in over a decade”, features the same touring line-up and features stories of murder, disembowelment and necrophilia. DOYLE continues to take the horror metal genre to new levels with their combination of epic guitar playing and memorable melodies. Buy Abominator via Amazon here.

Following the release of his recent Record Store Day exclusive single "Gimme Some Skin"/"Open Up & Bleed," The Stooges’ James Williamson has just released his second single today from his forthcoming solo album Re-Licked.
On it, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame guitarist has enlisted The Bellrays’ vocalist Lisa Kekaula for the songs "I Gotta Right" (originally penned by Iggy Pop circa 1970) and "Heavy Liquid" (written by Pop & Williamson circa ’73). Backed by the driving force of Steve Mackay, Mike Watt & drummer Toby Dammit (all from the live touring version of The Stooges), along with backing vocals from Petra Haden, Williamson’s snarling, incendiary guitar riffs spar perfectly with Kekaula’s own soul-shaking, hair-raising vocal deliveries on these two early Stooges rarities.

Williamson’s Re-Licked (to be released in the fall of 2014) will also feature other lesser-known Stooges tracks properly recorded and mixed for the first time. Songs such as "Rubber Legs," "She Creatures of the Hollywood Hills," "Scene of the Crime," "Wild Love" and others will be fronted by a wealth of talented vocalists such as Jello Biafra, Mark Lanegan, Alison Mosshart, The Orwell’s Mario Cuomo, Ariel Pink, Primal Scream’s Bobby Gillespie, Carolyn Wonderland and others.

The 7" vinyl single of James Williamson’s "I Gotta Right"/"Heavy Liquid" is now available online in the U.S. through Insound here, in Europe here, and can also be found in finer record stores worldwide.

The Songs Of Candlelight & Razorblades Tour 2014

We are pleased to be able to announce that Wayne Hussey will be releasing his new solo album, ‘Songs Of Candlelight & Razorblades’, on Eyes Wide Shut Recordings in September. To coincide, Wayne will be playing over 50 dates on his solo European tour in Sept-Oct-Nov this year. Confirmed UK dates are listed below.
Bristol born & bred, and passionate Liverpool FC supporter, Wayne Hussey, lauded by some as maverick legend and others as charlatan, has been making music since the day he was first inspired to pick up a guitar by watching Marc Bolan & T.Rex on Top of the Pops.

A long and excessive and sometimes just downright scandalous road has led Wayne to where he is today. One thing is certain about Wayne, he’s certainly a divisive character.  Playing with various “punk” bands in Liverpool (UK) at the tail end of the 70′s, and after enjoying the dubious pleasures of touring for the very first time with Pauline Murray & the Invisible Girls, he eventually met the flamboyant Pete Burns who asked him to join the then fledgling ‘Dead or Alive’. Two years spent in the service of the Scouse ‘Boy George’, schooled Wayne in such subjects as hairstyle, fashion, & gender bending.

It was the early 80′s after all, a period of time where style really was more prevalent than substance.
After many failed hairstyles and with a suitcase full of stolen dresses and a couple of ‘hit’ singles, Wayne decided to leave Liverpool and Dead or Alive. He headed across the Pennines to Leeds (UK) to answer the call from Andrew Eldritch & The Sisters of Mercy. The Sisters needed a guitarist who could wear sunglasses in the dark and would spray paint provocative slogans on his guitar – Wayne was more than able and willing.

After another two years spent touring the world and developing some very bad habits, and contributing his song writing talents along with his very distinctive guitar sound to the seminal TSOM ‘First & Last & Always” album, Hussey, in a fit of inspired pique, left the Sisters with bassist Craig Adams to form The Mission. The Mission went on to considerable global success in the late 80′s and early 90′s, enjoying album sales in excess of four million worldwide with notable works such as ‘God’s Own Medicine’ and ‘Carved In Sand’ amongst others and enjoying an unbroken run of 14 UK Top 40 singles!
They forged a reputation that still stands today as one of the best ‘live’ bands in the world, thanks in no small part to the charisma & energy that Hussey exudes & exerts on stage.

Wayne resides, and has done since 2001, in Sao Paulo, Brazil

The legendary bassist talks the band’s secret to success, how punk and rock changed his life and his brush with extravagance. Read the rest of this interview in the new issue of Vive Le Rock (no.20), out now! Order your copy HERE.

You’ve had more chart singles and a longer run of success than almost any other band of the ’70s. How did you do it?
“I find a lot of people now are seeking success for the sake of it and the trappings of success. We’ve had a lot of success but have still managed to stay a bit underground. We’ve played some big festivals this summer, especially T In The Park, and then we’ve played a few clubs too. That keeps us healthy and alert. Also, you don’t rest on your laurels. We’ve sort of managed to get the balance right a lot of the time, not all the time but a lot. We enjoy all aspects of it and it keeps us on our toes.”

Looking back at punk and what it’s done for you and the Stranglers, it must have changed your whole life?
“That’s true. We entered unchartered territory a few years back because when we started we were just a few guys trying to make music together. You progress one rung at a time – you get your first record and we had a bit of success with that. You don’t expect it to last too long so you try and enjoy it while you can. But then forty years on, we’re still doing it. It’s unchartered territory because it didn’t say that on the packet. I think it said ‘Sell by date – three years from now’. There’s a perception that after your second album your band will start to go downhill. Why should bands go downhill then? There’s a weird perception in this country about rock music that after your third album you start coasting. But as a person you develop more insight as you get older so surely if you can transfer that into your musical output, surely it’s even more valued?”

What’s been the most extravagant thing you’ve ever bought yourself, if I may ask?
“Funny story. Three or four years ago I was offered a V12 Aston Martin convertible at a pretty good price. It wasn’t brand new but there weren’t many miles on the clock and it was a V12 Aston Martin. I thought, ‘great! I can have this.’ I’ve always wanted a fancy car, I can be the rockstar in the fancy car instead of riding on motorcycles all day. But then I thought, ‘well hold on, problem is I do prefer riding on motorcycles around London, it’s a much better way to get around. So where would I be able to drive it? Also, there’s the paranoia that someone scratches it and you’ve got three grand’s worth of work to do. I don’t have a garage.’ All that paranoia. So I phoned my mum up and said, ‘mum, can I leave it in the south of France? It’s the opportunity of a lifetime.’ That’s where she lived and pose up and down the coast and impress the girls. She said to me, ‘son, firstly, it’s extravagant and secondly, it’s for the man who has everything, and you ain’t’. (Laughs). So she put me back in my place and I didn’t get it.”
