Rose Tattoo ‘Live In 1993 From Boggo Road Jail’ DVD Coming May 22nd

Rose Tattoo have remained the bad boys of Australian rock since the late 70s when they ignited Australian audiences with the hits "Bad Boy For Love" and "Rock’n’Roll Outlaw". After the release of their third album, ‘Scarred For Life’, and the chart-topping anthem "We Can’t Be Beaten", Rose Tattoo became one of the biggest, and most infamous, hard rock bands in the country.

Performing here in front of a huge crowd at Boggo Road Jail (the original line-up of Angry Anderson, Peter Wells, Geordie Leech and Mick Cocks reunited to celebrate the closing of the jail) alongside the Divinyls and Billy Thorpe and the Aztecs, Angry Anderson and the band deliver a thumping set of seminal Oz rock, rolling out all their big hits — including "Assault & Battery", "Tramp", "Out Of This Place", and a rousing rendition of the Rolling Stones classic "Street Fighting Man".

Tracks include: Out of This Place, Bad Boy For Love, Assault & Battery, Tramp, The Butcher & Fast Eddy, Rock’n’Roll is King, Street Fighting Man, Rock’n’Roll Outlaw, One of the Boys, Nice Boys, Going Down

Welsh Rockers Kids In Glass Houses are to headline The Big Cheese Cave on Friday 13th July.  Having achieved success on the strength of the singles “Give Me What I Want” and “Saturday” from their debut album Smart Casual in 2008, the band released their second album Dirt in early 2010.  The band’s third album, In Gold Blood, was released on 15 August 2011 and in the last 4 years they have performed at festivals and gigs all over the UK, toured with acts such as Funeral For a Friend, and You Me At Six, as well as been nominated as “Best British Newcomer” in the Kerrang Awards and received big support from rock media such as NME, XFM and Radio 1.

Last but by no means least, new three piece British pop/RnB sensation StooShe are to perform on The Main Stage on Sunday 15th July.  Nominated for The BBC’s Sound of 2012 poll as well as T4’s rising Stars of 2012, their first single “Love Me” was released in March this year and debuted at number 5 in the UK singles chart.  Their widely anticipated first album “Swings & Roundabouts” is due to drop in June 2012.

True to Jackson’s word, The Duke is a decidedly unconventional salute to Ellington, demonstrating the timeless brilliance of his classic compositions while showcasing Jackson’s sublime skills as an arranger, instrumentalist and vocal interpreter. Although it’s only the second time he’s recorded an album not comprised of his own compositions, The Duke is a deeply personal project for Jackson, whose longstanding affinity for Ellington’s pioneering spirit has served as a key inspiration throughout his own three-decades-plus career.

The Duke finds the iconoclastic English singer/composer/arranger/keyboardist and five-time Grammy nominee interpreting 15 Ellington classics over the course of ten tracks, interspersing melodic and rhythmic elements of various compositions in a manner that’s consistent with Ellington’s own freewheeling approach. Rather than emulating the songs’ original big-band settings, Jackson filtered the music through his own musical imagination while exploring an assortment of unexpected grooves and textures. The resulting album is a seamless fusion of sounds and styles, whose abundant sense of playfulness is consistent with Ellington’s boundary-breaking attitude.
Jackson’s distinctive voice is featured on I’m Beginning To See The Light, Mood Indigo, and I Got It Bad (And That Ain’t Good), while It Don’t Mean A Thing (If It Ain’t Got That Swing) features a duet with Iggy Pop.  R&B diva Sharon Jones sings on I Ain’t Got Nothin’ But The Blues.  In keeping with Ellington’s multiculuralism, Jackson welcomed Iranian singer Sussan Deyhim to perform Caravan in Farsi, and Lilian Vieira, of the Brazilian/Dutch collective Zuco 103, to create a sunny, sexy Portuguese version of Perdido.
The album’s mix of electronic and organic textures, are evident on the instrumentals Isfahan, Rockin’ In Rhythm, The Mooche, and Black and Tan Fantasy.  Musicians include contemporary jazz stars, violinist Regina Carter and bassist Christian McBride; rock guitarist Steve Vai; drummer Ahmir ‘?uestlove’ Thompson and other members of The Roots; plus Jackson’s old associates, guitarist Vinnie Zummo and percussionist Sue Hadjopoulos. The album was recorded and mixed by seven-time Grammy winner Elliot Scheiner (Steely Dan, Sting, Bob Dylan).

PAUL DALEY (LEFTFIELD):‘John Foxx was an idea for vocals I had for the second Leftfield album but this never happened. I’ve always respected and liked his approach and attitude – the quietman from another dimension bending sounds from the 23rd century underneath cinematic sci-fi  future vocals while keeping his distance from the brashness of pop culture and celebrity. Afrika Bambaataa is a big fan too.’
JUNIOR BOYS: ‘I have never felt that there was a music that reached into my unconscious quite like John Foxx’s.’
John Foxx And The Maths are playing two shows in September – a warm-up at Cargo in London, followed by their festival appearance at Bestival the following day.
They are also set to release their Analogue Circuit DVD and CD, filmed and recorded at their headline Roundhouse show back in 2010. Evidence, a new mini-album of new material, remixes and collaborations is also set for September.

CLINT MANSELL (COMPOSER OF BLACK SWAN, THE WRESTLER AND MOON SOUNDTRACKS):  ‘John’s music, both with Ultravox and solo, is built for the Internet. It’s technology manipulated by man. Man & machine in perfect harmony! Consistent quality output. The new album Interplay is a great record. Vibrant.’
GARY NUMAN: ‘I was a big fan of John Foxx when he was in Ultravox in the late 70s. Ultravox were like the blueprint for what I was trying to do in the early years and John Foxx was my hero. I thought he was a fantastic, enigmatic front man. I really loved what he did. To see him still going strong today, and putting out great music is good to see. John was a true pioneer and seems as passionate today as he was then about his music. I have a huge amount of respect for him.’
Meanwhile their spring 2012 album The Shape Of Things continues to receive fantastic reviews:

‘Perfect synth pop.’ 5/5 Artrocker (Album of The Month)

‘The Shape of Things is consistently absorbing, as good as any of
Foxx’s early-80s benchmarks.’ 4/5 Mojo

‘Foxx has rediscovered his musical touch. It’s the man who triumphs over the
machines.’ Q Magazine

‘He has never seemed so relevant, nor sounded so modern, as he does in 2012.
The Shape Of Things is, by some margin, Foxx’s best album since Metamatic. ‘
BBC Online

‘The Shape Of Things is an absolute triumph.’ 4/5 FACT Magazine

‘More introspective but no less gripping than last year’s Interplay’. 8/10
Vice Magazine

The Psychedelic Furs 5th July 2012 The Garage, Highbury, London 24 hour ticket hotline: 08700 603 777 Online bookings: Tickets £20.00 (plus booking fee) Doors 7pm Pretty In Pink ‘The Best Dark-Pop Song Ever Written’ The Psychedelic Furs will play The Garage in Highbury, London, on Thursday 5th July 2012. It’s been two years since The Furs last played in London, when they performed their commercial breakthrough album “Talk Talk Talk”, in its entirety, to rave reviews. The Garage show will see the band perform their major hits including "Love My Way, "Pretty In Pink," "Heaven," "The Ghost In You," and “Heartbreak Beat”. Led by singer and songwriter Richard Butler, whose baritone became one of the era’s most recognisable sounds, along with bass playing brother Tim, the Furs won over fans and critics alike by combining poetic lyrics, innovative rhythms and melodies driven by an aggressive, punk desperation. The Furs gained much of their fame as part of MTV’s first wave of video artists and they have since been regarded as a musical icon that bridged the gap between early punk and the alternative hard rock and grunge that would rise during the 90s. With a career spanning the rise and fall of punk, MTV, glam metal, grunge and hip-hop, Richard Butler is happy to be in a position to communicate with an audience. "As long as there are people, who enjoy music and have fun going to shows, there’ll be a place in the world for artists who try to do something interesting and different," he says. "I don’t really know if you can change the world making music, but it sure is nice to think that you can enable people to have a good time." Fire Records are delighted to announce that they have signed one of the greatest post-punk bands of all time, Mission of Burma. After forming in Boston in 1979, disbanding in 1983 and reforming in 2002 for what was meant to be a brief series of shows, the band have inadvertently continued to produce outstanding albums such as 2004’s ‘ONoffON’, 2006’s ‘The Obliterati’ and ‘The Sound the Speed the Light’ in 2009. Their new album ‘Unsound’ will be released on Fire Records in July.

From the outset, ‘Unsound’ was not going to be like any other Mission of Burma album. As expected, the material is raw, primal and aggressive. They still have a signature knack for twisting even the most ferocious noise into complex structures. There are, of course, those killer hooks scattered throughout, but just not quite where you would expect. Yet with all three lead members resolutely making the decision to deliberately stretch their boundaries even further, they stepped out of their comfort zone to create their most rewarding, bewildering and multifaceted long-player yet.

The Onion’s AV Club premiered the track listing and cover art earlier this week and we’re happy to share it with all of you here:

DOWNTOWN STRUTS were formed in 2008 in Chicago with two members hailing from Northern California and two from the Midwest. Setting out to create honest music stemming from punk and Americana influences, the songs are passionate and melodic at heart but delivered with drive and aggression. Influence from THE CLASH, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN, and THE REPLACEMENTS is evident in their carefully constructed songwriting and powerful live show.

The City of Chicago, with its inevitable ups and downs, sets the background for the band’s debut full length album, "Victoria!". Recorded with Matt Allison at Atlas Studios in Chicago, this record is ambitious without losing familiarity, and maintains its energy and urgency throughout all 10 tracks. After a full US tour in support of The Business this Spring, the band continues on the road in 2012, including plans for a European Summer tour with appearances at both the Rebellion Festival in Blackpool (UK) and the Endless Summer Festival, in Germany.

This is bound to be a life-changing year for the Struts. Get in, hold on and enjoy the ride!!

Downtown Struts’ debut full-length ‘Victoria!’ is out May 15th on Pirates Press Records.

European and US tour dates will follow, as will festival appearances with Face To Face, Street Dogs, Bouncing Souls and more.
