Shonen Knife have been the most internationally recognized name in Japanese Rock music since their entrance onto the alternative rock scene in the early 90s seeing them become the indie darlings of hipsters and rock stars alike. 2011 celebrates thirty years since Naoko and the band began releasing albums of their joyous mixture of pop, punk, food and fantasy for the world to enjoy. Since their inception in Osaka in 1981 (featuring Naoko’s sister Atsuko and their friend, bassist/vocalist Michie) to their current lineup featuring members Ritsuko (b,v) and Emi (dr,v), SK have maintained their rightful place in the ever changing indie rock scene. In celebration of this milestone Shonen Knife is paying tribute to one of their biggest musical inspirations since the infancy of their still vibrant career 3 decades ago … NYC’s legendary Ramones. “Osaka Ramones” is not only the name of this tribute album, but is also the name of the side project which has made its way in and out of Shonen Knife’s performing history for decades. This East meets West punk rock combination is now captured in an album recorded and mixed between Osaka, JP and New York over the last year and was co-produced by Robby Takac of the American rock band Goo Goo Dolls. The album, set for release July 19 on Takac’s label Good Charamel Records, will be supported by a North American tour. Dates will be announced shortly. Please enjoy this awesome collection of songs and celebrate the music of the world’s greatest punk rock band while we celebrate the 4th decade of Japan’s indie rock icons, the mighty Shonen Knife...Hey Ho, Let’s Go! … “Ramones were my all-time idols since I first heard their music from a radio and rushed to a record shop. This year is the 30th anniversary of Shonen Knife. For celebration, we decided to record a cover album of our favorite band the Ramones. The title is “Osaka Ramones” with our respect. GMT RAW - LIVE NEW LIVE ALBUM! Bernie Torme - John McCoy - Robin Guy listn.to/gmt buy Retrowrek Records cat no FIRK116 barcode 5060066551163 GMT: RAW - LIVE: "Sometimes when there's mischief to be made, you need to bring in the expertsŠ" (Classic Rock on GMT at HRHIII Fest) From a starting point of classic three piece heavy rock GMT pillage all boundaries and perform instrumental acrobatics that no other three piece rock band can even hope to come close to: but under no circumstances would we want you to get the idea that this is a few introspective musicians widdling away for their own self indulgent satisfaction. RAW - LIVE is loud, its heavy, it rocks, it is fired up with feeling and primal raw energy. Bernie, John, and Robin play to the edge of their abilities, giving their all to the moment, and rock with punchy anthems while also pulling fully formed improvisational magic from out of nowhere: listen, for example, to the jams on Perfumed Garden and Longer Than Tomorrow. RAW - LIVE contains live performances of stage favourites from the two previous GMT albums, "Bitter and Twisted" and "Evil Twin", including "Cannonball", "Can't Beat Rock n Roll", "Bullet In The Brain" and "Perfumed Garden", as well as some previously unrecorded live gems such as Hendrix classic "Fire" (given a blistering GMT rendition), and Gillan's "No Easy Way". This is raw, live, loud, real, and it pulls no punches. This is GMT, no studio magic, no airbrushing: this is truth, the way it happened on the night. GMT xx

The BUZZCOCKS special guest to The Pogues at Greenwich Summer Sessions on July 30th and release "A Different Compilation" June 27th 2011 On Saturday July 30th Punk icons TheBuzzcocks have been confirmed as special guests to The Pogues, in an open-air concert series set in the stunning grounds of the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich. The Buzzcocks once called ‘Beatles of punk’ have always delivered undiminished passion and energy and will make for a great addition to the Saturday night. Nirvana to Green Day, Kaiser Chiefs to Kate Nash – just a few of the artists who have acknowledged their musical debt to punk-pop pioneers, The Buzzcocks. This legendary band has provided some of the catchiest and often most provocative music ever and blazed a trail for legions of artists to follow. Their catalogue of songs pervades popular culture – film, television and game soundtracks, cover versions in every style – and is still thrilling ecstatic audiences on the band’s travels around the globe. Always innovative, The Buzzcocks have seized control of this peerless repertoire by taking them back into the studio. The result is A Different Compilation – an album of 24 of the band’s bestloved and iconic songs – which achieves the seemingly impossible by bringing a 21st century slant to these already timeless anthems. “The original records now sound like demos”, says Pete Shelley. “These new versions, honed by years on the road, showcase the songs as we know they should be, the way we know audiences love to hear them.” Steve Diggle adds, “What were songs of sophisticated innocence are now songs of experience. 'Harmony In My Head' and 'Why She's A Girl From The Chainstore' now have a full panoramic view!” A Different Compilation charts the high points of their career and includes ‘Boredom’ and ‘Breakdown’ from their iconic debut Spiral Scratch EP, the thrillingly lascivious first single ‘Orgasm Addict’ and their biggest hits, ‘Love You More’, ‘Promises’, ‘What Do I Get?’, the hypnotic ‘Why Can’t I Touch It?’ and, of course, the classic ‘Ever Fallen In Love (With Someone You Shouldn't’ve)?’. A Different Compilation captures this unique and influential group at their most powerful and proves Buzzcocks remain contemporary and as relevant as they always have been – a band with a past, present and a future. “A voice that can soar to ethereal heights as effortlessly as it plumbs red-raw depths” – The Guardian
“David Roch serves up attention grabbing mix of the confessional, low key melodies of Tom McRae with baroque arrangements that wouldn’t shame Rufus Wainwright.  It helps that his aching voice is a match for both.” — Q Magazine
“Moodily beguiling fare, a sweet soprano and moodily ravaged voice, sources Billie Holiday and Nick Drake.” — Time Out
Blessed with an astonishing voice equally agile in the soul-racked depths of sonorous baritone or soaring otherworldly soprano, David J Roch also happens to be both a songwriter of hauntingly gorgeous music and a charmingly affable performer to boot. His premiere album, Skin & Bones (on new London-based label Dram), displays all those talents and more to great effect. Produced by James Sclavunos of Grinderman and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds), Skin & Bones offers eleven timeless tunes glowing with palpable passion and poignancy.
In between his “day job” duties as an undertaker (!), David J Roch recorded Skin & Bones in his hometown of Sheffield at the legendary 2Fly Studios, working closely with producer Sclavunos to fashion an ambitious and startlingly mature debut album. From the haunting starkness of opening track “The Lost Child” to the opulently orchestrated thrall of “Only Love”, from the eerie medieval chamber folk of “Lonely Unfinished” to the gospel-hued synth-psychedelia of “Dew” or Skin & Bones’ stately magisterial title track, David J Roch displays an enviable scope of composition, instrumental texture, and vocal prowess — not to mention a strong predilection for the darker end of the spectrum in his lyrics.
In addition to appearances with British Sea Power and I Am Arrows last year, David J Roch can soon boast a couple of new notches on his opening slot belt: a personal invitation from Grinderman to join them June 18th at Dublin’s Vicar St., as well as a show the following day at The Whitehaven Festival on June 19th. David’s upcoming festival dates include Latitude on the 17th July and Kendall Calling on 30th July.

Buffalo Killers are an American rock band comprising brothers Zachary
and Andrew Gabbard with Joseph Sebaali. Quickly signed to Alive
Records after sending a burnt CD with just their telephone number and
name on it, their self-titled debut album was released in October of

Buffalo Killers drew the attention of Chris Robinson, who invited the
band to open a string of dates for The Black Crowes. That road trip
spawned the songs for the band’s second long player, Let It Ride,
produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach.

Most recently, the Buffalo Killers collaborated with Kelley Deal on
the just released Sing For Your Meat: A Tribute to Guided By Voices,
and on August 2nd the Cincinnati-based trio will be releasing their
new self-produced album "3" on Alive Records (available on CD,
Digitaland Colored Vinyl in both blue and purple – limited to just 500
copies each color). Their summer tour of The States kicks-off June
15th in Dayton, with dates across the pond to follow.

“What the Jesus and Mary Chain were to the ’80s, Buffalo Killers may
well be to this decade, brilliantly bringing the beloved sounds of
yesterday into a new millennium." – Jo-Ann Greene / ALL MUSIC GUIDE

"I have been into those guys for a long time. Back when they were in
Thee Shams I brought them on the road with The Black Keys. I didn’t
hear anything from them for a while after Thee Shams disbanded until
the next thing I know the Buffalo Killers first record is coming out.
I bought a copy of it and was stunned, like ‘Holy shit.’ They
transformed from a good garage rock band to light years ahead of what
they were doing in terms of songwriting, arrangement and harmonies." –
Dan Auerbach in JamBase

“There’s another band like that I really love, from Cincinnati, the
Buffalo Killers. They’re a three-piece Midwestern rock’n’roll band –
really f**king good songs." – Chris Robinson in MOJO

NEW NICK 13 COUNTRY ALBUM! For those that aren't familiar, Nick 13 is the frontman/singer/guitarist for the internationally celebrated dark-rock trio Tiger Army(http://www.myspace.com/tigerarmy Nick's affinity for honky tonk, roots, hillbilly and country music has always been present on Tiger Army's albums, with a country leaning ballad on each release, but after spending time in Nashville a few years back those influences took hold and it was time to make the album he'd always wanted to. He spent the last few years recording the album with a variety of seasoned players and with the help of country veteran producers Greg Leisz and James Intveld and Grammy Award winning mixer Jim Scott (Wilco, Dixie Chicks) Nick 13 has made what could arguably be his best record yet. Recalling the vintage American sounds of hillbilly, honky-tonk and classic California country music, Nick 13 puts a modern twist on it and makes it his own; establishing himself as one of alternative country's most intriguing up-and-comers. Additionally, Nick 13 is kicking off a US tour this week which will include a performance at Amoeba in Hollywood tonight and two sold out shows atThe Troubadour in West Hollywood on June 10 & 11. Nick 13 will also be performing at Austin City Limits Music Festival on Sept 18. https://www.facebook.com/nick13official http://www.myspace.com/nick13

SUZI QUATRO IN THE SPOTLIGHT (CHERRY RED RECORDS - 29TH AUGUST 2011) In The Spotlight is the brand new studio album from Suzi Quatro. With this album Suzi goes back to basics to where it all began for her, with good, honest rock and roll. In The Spotlight also sees the reunion of Suzi with Mike Chapman who told her ³I know how to produce your next album², which is evident on hearing the music here. A tour de force in British pop music in the 1970s and beyond, Mike Chapman, along with Nicky Chinn, produced major hits for Suzi, including Can The Can, 48 Crash and Devil Gate Drive. In The Spotlight features eleven tracks, including some excellent cover versions which Suzi obviously enjoys sinking her teeth into; there¹s a tough, acerbic rendition of Rhianna¹s Breakin¹ Dishes and on her take of Goldfrapp¹s Strict Machine she drops in a not-so-subtle nod to her 1973 hit Can The Can, referencing the distinctive riff common to both records (although Can The Can obviously came first)! Reaching further back, there¹s also a cover of Hard Headed Woman (Elvis, King Creole) when they came to record this track, Suzi recalls that although her young backing group were all excellent musicians, she was concerned that even though they could play all the right notes, their Œfeel¹ might be off course. They all rose to the challenge, however and Suzi was impressed by their grasp of that old, original rock feel, something which can¹t be taught. There¹s one bonus track on the album, not produced by Mike Chapman, that is Suzi¹s tribute to Elvis, Singing With Angels, which she recorded in Nashville; produced by Andy Scott with James Burton on guitar and The Jordanaires on backing vocals. Suzi wants to tour the world with In The Spotlight, from the USA to Japan, the UK and Europe ³everywhere². After that, she wants to tour the world again in 2014 to mark her 50th anniversary in the music business. Her motto is ŒRock Till You Drop¹ as she says, ³Basically, I don¹t want to stop. My dad did his last gig at age 89, so I am still a baby!!² SUZI QUATRO IN THE SPOTLIGHT (CDBRED511) CHERRY RED RECORDS 29TH AUGUST 2011 For further information/interviews etc. please contact: Dorothy Howe Press & Publicity Tel: 020 8995 3920 Email: press@dorothyhowe.co.uk Editor¹s Notes Suzi Quatro has sold in excess of 50 million records worldwide. In the UK she has had 18 hit singles, including 2 No. 1s (Can The Can and Devil Gate Drive). From 1973-1979, Suzi featured in the British charts for no less than 101 weeks. In Australia it was 18 hit singles with 3 No. 1s, whilst in Germany the total was 18 chart entries, with 12 of them reaching the Top 10. Suzi Quatro was the most successful female artist of the entire Glam Rock period and is an acknowledged influence on many female rock musicians, including Chrissie Hynde, Joan Jett and The Runaways. With nigh on 40 years in show business, Suzi has taken on numerous acting roles, including the TV shows Happy Days, Minder, Dempsey & Makepeace, Absolutely Fabulous and Midsomer Murders. There have also been highly successful musical stage roles, including Annie Get Your Gun and Tallulah Who? Recently she appeared in the play, Exonerated, alongside Charles Dance. Suzi has ventured into the world of broadcasting with very successful shows on BBC Radio 2, including Rockin¹ With Suzi Q and Wake Up Little Suzi. Looking forward, Suzi has recorded a series of 2-hour high profile documentaries on some of her favourite artists, including Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Patsy Cline, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison. These will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 later this year and repeated in succession from 28th December to 2nd January. Suzi continues to tour and does over 100 shows a year all over the world. On retiring, she has this to say; ³When I turn my back on the audience and shake my ass, and there is silenceŠ..I¹ll stop.²

Now a four-piece, Thank You’s latest album Golden Worry (produced by Chris Coady – Beach House, Gang Gang Dance) was released earlier this year to much critical acclaim. They have since added a new bass player STEVE SANTILLAN who brings an extra punch to their dynamic sound.

"…shines a light on pop-hooks with a teeth grindingly high riff that sticks in your head as it skips over the head-nodding drums and smooth, hum-worthy harmonies… exciting and full-of-energy." – Loud + Quiet

"Obtuse and unrelenting, their discordant racket serves as a soundtrack to their native city’s bleak industrial climate, in the same way Big Black characterised mid-Eighties Illinois or Pere Ubu a decade earlier with Cleveland… There’s a diversity to Golden Worry’s six pieces. ‘1-2-3 Bad’ takes a similar post-punk route to that of No Age, offering minimal noise where others would probably take a more dance-orientated route… it’s hard to envisage a more challenging, complex record than this" – Drowned in Sound

The Living End repeat their past success with new album The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating. The biggest band in the land, THE LIVING END return with the new single, "THE ENDING IS JUST THE BEGINNING REPEATING", from the album that shares its moniker. While it’s not what you might expect from a first single, "The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating" is perhaps the most profound of all the tracks, dealing with the cycle of life and the need to manage one’s grief. The sentiment’s right there in the song: “We’re getting tired of waiting / We’re running into the storm…We’re the start of something much better / We’re the end of what came before”. The single debuted on radio last Friday, with major stations across the country adding the track to high rotation immediately. Six albums. Each one, a milestone: The time we thought we were indestructible. The time we lit a fire under the establishment. The time we wondered if it was all worth it. No.6, if we put it under the microscope, is the album that hunts down the truth, asks the big questions and demands answers. “The Ending is Just the Beginning Repeating” is The Living End’s most honest album yet. Chris Cheney, Scott Owen and Andy Strachan have always forged their own path, irrespective of passing fads, haircuts, and any vogue for keytar-wielding debutantes. Their songs require of the listener a social conscience and mosh pit stamina, and give in return a visceral experience that’s flawlessly executed. It’s this attitude that’s earned the band platinum recognitions. Winding up the tour cycle that followed 2008’s White Noise, Cheney went to New York to buckle down and write, before the songs were jammed out organically in a South Melbourne rehearsal room. Finally the demos were taken to 301 Studios in Byron Bay and Chris’ Red Door Sounds Studio in Collingwood for a reworking with producer Nick DiDia — who has put the Midas touch on records by The Living End-approved Bruce Springsteen and Rage Against the Machine — imported especially for the occasion from Atlanta. Brendan O’Brien (Pearl Jam, Powderfinger, AC/DC) took the reigns as mixer. The results are astonishing. The Living End’s 6th studio album, “The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating” is released on July 22nd, 2011 through Dew Process/UMA.
