Hi all. Just to let you know that tickets for the GBH NZ tour are now on sale from <;pid=144> or <> , moshtix outlets and Real Groovy Records. Due to the situation with their guitarist being involved in a major accident recently, Sticky Filth will not be playing any of the shows as originally planned. The good news is he is on the mend and I sincerely hope he has a speedy recovery. That aside, everything for GBH is going well and I can't wait to finally get them down to NZ. Their new cd is awesome too and it will be for sale at the shows for the special tour price of $20. There will be three NZ shows only for this and if any of the venues sell out I won't be upgrading to bigger venues, so I recommend buying advance tickets. Anyone thinking of trying to jump the fence or scam the doorgirls to get in should think again as security will be right onto this. Do us all a favour and just buy a ticket. Game on! Cheers and enjoy! Tim

Classic album-released! UB40 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF 'SIGNING OFF¹ WITH SPECIAL EDITION DOUBLE-CD/DVD & EXTENSIVE UK TOUR RELEASE DATE: 1st November 2010 UB40 are to celebrate the 30th anniversary of their seminal debut album, ŒSigning Off¹, with a Special Edition re-release and by performing the whole album live during a tour of intimate venues across the UK throughout October and November 2010. Taking its name from the unemployment form, ŒSigning Off¹ was heralded as a landmark album when it was released in late August 1980. Considered by many as one of the greatest reggae albums ever released by a British band, ŒSigning Off¹ was well received amongst many music fans, including followers of punk and the 2 Tone movement, and struck a chord amongst a large proportion of the UK¹s disaffected youth. Mixing reggae and dub, ŒSigning Off¹ chronicled the times, and wider social and political issues, as well as the plight of communities throughout the country during the early Thatcher years. ŒSigning Off¹ went on to attain Platinum status after spending 71 weeks in charts, peaking at #2. The album features hit singles ŒKing¹/ŒFood For Thought¹ and ŒI Think It's Going to Rain Today¹ (#4 & # 6 on the UK singles chart, respectively), along with other UB40 classics such as ŒTyler¹, ŒMadam Medusa¹ and ŒBurden of Shame¹. The album artwork for ŒSigning Off¹ also famously depicted a replica of the bright yellow unemployment card from which the Birmingham-based band took its name: Unemployment Benefit, Form 40. Since the release of ŒSigning Off¹, UB40 have become one of the most successful reggae groups of all time, with over forty UK Top 40 hit singles and sales of 80million records across the world. The ŒSigning Off¹ Special Edition double-CD includes the original album remastered, all the dub mixes and b-sides, as well as a DVD featuring previously unreleased Rock Goes To College footage. Tracklisting: CD1: (Remastered) Tyler King 12 Bar Burden Of Shame Adella I Think It¹s Going To Rain Today 25% Food For Thought Little By Little Signing Off CD2: Madam Medusa Strange Fruit Reefer Madness My Way Of Thinking 12² Version I Think It¹s Going To Rain Today 12² Version The Earth Dies Screaming 12² Version Dream A Lie 12² Version BBC Radio One John Peel Session: 12/12/79 Food For Thought 25% King BBC Radio One Kid Jensen Session: 11/02/80 I Think It¹s Going To Rain Today My Way Of Thinking To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the band will step away from their comfortable habitat of arenas and undertake an intimate 19-date tour in much smaller venues. In addition to performing ŒSigning Off¹ in it¹s entirely, UB40 will perform a second set on the evening featuring some of the band¹s most loved tracks. UB40 saxophonist Brain Travers said, ³2010 marks UB40¹s 30th anniversary, three decades since we started this incredible journey. We had to ask ourselves ³How can we celebrate? How can we say thanks to the fans for their unconditional support?² We decided to go back to where we started, downtown to the heart of the cities and the venues where we played our first gigs, then perform our first album ŒSigning Off¹ in its entirety, something we have never done before. Of course, there will also be some surprises, but we¹ll save them for the night.² The UK dates are as follows: October 25th - Liverpool Philarmonic October 26th - Birmingham Symphony Hall October 27th - Wolverhampton Civic Hall October 29th - London Troxy October 30th - London Shepherds Bush Empire October 31st - Brighton Dome November 2nd - Tue 2 Newcastle City Hall November 3rd - Edinburgh Usher Hall November 4th - Glasgow Royal Concert Hall November 7th - Manchester Bridgewater Hall November 8th - Preston Guildhall November 10th - Southend Cliffs Pavillion November 11th - Cardiff St Davids November 15th - Leicester De Mont Fort Hall November 16th - Cambridge Corn Exchange November 18th - Ipswich Regent November 19th - Southampton Guildhall Tickets go on sale on Friday 16th July 2010 and, amongst other outlets, are available from <> and 0844 871 8803.

Later this week, Carbon/Silicon head to Italy to play the Neapolis Festival, one of the country’s top summer music festivals.

In advance of the band’s trip, I caught up with Tony James at Dean Street Studios Soho, where he’s currently producing a second album for top Spanish group Fangoria. Tony’s last collaboration with Fangoria led to a number 1 single and album in their home country – and they’re currently hard at work on a follow-up.

The good news is, everything is still sounding very positive on the western front. As most fans will know, Mick has been performing with Gorillaz on their "Plastic Beach" album and tour – and yes, this will keep him tied up for pretty much the rest of the year. However, Carbon/Silicon is unquestionably alive and well, and there’s still plenty to come from the band.

TJ explained: "At this point – after six years of hard slog – we’re enjoying doing only what feels great for the group and for ourselves… and we’re enjoying life – you write better songs when you’re living life. It’s all good."

Mick and Tony are planning to return to the Bunker in August, to work on new songs and "more film ideas" … TJ also promised that there’ll be a backstage video report from the upcoming Naples gig.

It was great to hear Tony sounding so upbeat and confident about the group with the current line-up – he says that "Jesse has fitted right in on Bass, and the band is sounding better than ever because Mick is in such great form".  He also hinted that another gig – a little closer to home – could be on the cards soon… watch this space!

The record was pressed on multi-colored wax, with eco-friendly recycled content jacket and full color two-sided insert.  The LP includes a free download code for the entire album.  This collectable release is strictly limited to a single pressing of 500 pieces. The album was recorded, mixed and engineered by Mike McDonald in September 2009 at the Cool Ranch in Cleveland, OH. ³It's really a hodgepodge" frontman Jason Look states about the album. "There's everything on there from an acoustic song and straight-up '60s revival to some '50s doo-wop stuff, too" he enthuses. "We try to mix it up and don't really try to go for any one thing." Prisoners is a five-piece band, influenced by the Rolling Stones, The Replacements, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young.  Their loud, three-guitar line-up and raucous live performances distinguish them from other rock acts in the Cleveland area. They've played together for a year now and have shared the stage with Bill Fox, Dead Meadow, Sweet Apple and the Strange Boys, amongst others. The band has been well received by press with coverage in the Cleveland Plain Dealer and the Cleveland Scene who wrote "ŠBack in the USSA <> is a promising start from these young, brash Prisoners." CitzienDick adds "Equal parts frivolity, wickedness, and bravado, they immediately snag an audience's attention <> with amazing stage command."  And IRockCleveland <> sums it up enthusing "...this young band have quickly mastered that old Cleveland sound." Prisoners is Jason Look on guitar and vocals; James Piscura on guitar and vocals; Ron Urch on guitar; Drew Ritchey on bass; Adam Gravatt on drums. The ten tracks on Back In The USSA are: 1. "Evangeline," 2. "You¹re Goin¹ Down," 3. "Society¹s Bitch," 4. "Join The Club," 5. "Eternal Flowers," 6. "Teenage Shatner," 7. "Little Old Me," 8. "Tied Up In Shadows," 9. "Losers" and 10. "Back In The USSA." Visit the band online at <> .
