Green Day are proud to announce the Joan Jett will be joining them on their upcoming European Tour.

The Legendary Joan Jett & The Blackhearts have announced that they are special guests on Green Day’s UK stadium shows at Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground and London Wembley Stadium in June.

Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary. As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, she’s had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics "Bad Reputation," "I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll," "I Hate Myself For Loving You," and "Crimson and Clover."

She sits at the head of her own independent label, Blackheart Records. Jett has acted in movies, including 1987’s Light Of Day, with Michael J. Fox and Gena Rowlands, and in a Tony-nominated Broadway musical, The Rocky Horror Show.

As a producer, she has overseen albums by Bikini Kill, Circus Lupus, and the Vacancies, as well as the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece, GI. Jett was even one of only two women named to Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 greatest guitar players of all time.  In the end, though, Joan Jett’s life has been dedicated to one goal and one goal only – rocking the hell out of every listener she can reach.

Since co-founding the Runaways, the pioneering all-girl punk quintet, at age 15, Jett’s determination and drive have kept her in the public eye. This year, however, her profile will skyrocket yet again, with the release of both a long-awaited feature film telling the story of the Runaways and a new, two-disc Greatest Hits collection. The Runaways is based on lead singer Cherie Currie’s book Neon Angel. Kristen Stewart, star of the Twilight series films, plays Jett, and her fellow A-Lister Dakota Fanning portrays Currie. The movie chronicles the band’s early years; formed by teenage girls living near Hollywood, CA., the Runaways became the first all-girl band to break into the world of arena-filling hard rock acts.

After the success of their first single, "Cherry Bomb," the Runaways toured with such acts as the Ramones, Cheap Trick, and Tom Petty. But in Japan, the band became huge stars – their arrival for a set of shows in 1977 was like Beatlemania all over again. During the Japanese tour, Currie began to struggle, and she left the band when they returned home – but Jett decided to keep fighting the rock & roll fight, with the Runaways and then on her own.

Joan Jett has spent her lifetime breaking barriers and challenging expectations. She’s fought hard for all of her historic accomplishments, yet she remains humble and appreciative.

To see Green Day live with special guests Joan Jett & The Blackhearts:

BAD RELIGION have revealed technical details about their upcoming live album.

"To celebrate three decades of Bad religion, we’ll be recording a live album during our spring 2010 tour, and offering it as a free "thank you" to the loyal fans who’ve been with us through all the sweat and mayhem. Sometimes late spring we’ll let you know how you can get your free 30 Years Live download. We’ll be playing a few tracks at the shows from our new album, coming this fall, so this will be a great way to get a preview of the new tunes. Thanks again to the greatest and best-looking fans a band could hope for."

This additional info has also been released:

The upcoming live record will be made available for download on May 18th. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can do so here.

– Fans will have a choice of the following formats: FLAC, Apple Lossless, variable bitrate MP3 (hi and low), Variable bitrate AAC (hi and low), 320-bit MP3.
– The album will come with minimal artwork more suitable for an mp3 device than printout but I suppose some folks will want to print it.  It will be limited to one “front cover” image.
The unique download codes will be delivered along with liner notes via email.
– Songs were left untouched wherever possible;  editing and overdubbing were done at an absolute minimum so what you’ll hear is a very pure live recording and no parts were added.  Mixing duties were handled by the great Mike Fraser at The Warehouse in Canada.  We’ve not yet mastered.
– There are no plans to release the album on CD but we’ve toyed with the idea of doing some vinyl later in the year.

All the new works will be exhibited for the first time at Idea Generation Gallery alongside a retrospective of Ray¹s work. The original sketches, designs and ideas for the album cover as well as private sketchbooks, personal letters, previously unseen photographs and paintings will all be on show. ROCK IS MY LIFE - The Skydog Story An exhibition of historical rock memorabilia from Marc Zermati, founder of the legendary SKYDOG RECORDS, takes place at the 'JOE STRUMMER SUBWAY' in Edgware Road, London W2 May 7th - 29th. Two Iggy re-releases coincide. Skydog Records was the first independent punk rock label. Starting in Paris in 1973, pre-dating Stiff Records by 4 years - Stiff used Skydog's London distribution arm Bizarre to sell their early records. Prior to Skydog, Zermati opened the Paris underground music store The Open Market, and over his almost 40 years in rock music has amassed a vast collection. Marc will open his files and boxes and display a range of rare posters, original drawings and lithographs. In a second room of the Gallery, the atmosphere of the Open Market will be recreated, with vinyl, stickers, badges, tickets for concerts and backstages, letters from musicians, original drawings, articles from the international rock press, and photographs of musicians, artists & friends. 'Rock is my Life' will feature Iggy Pop & the Stooges, Lou Reed & The Velvet Underground, Motorhead, Damned, Slits, Elvis Costello, Johnny Thunders & the Heartbreakers, the Clash, Big Audio Dynamite, Eddie & the Hot Rods, the New York graphic artist Futura 2000, and Jamie Reed, the illustrator for the Sex Pistols. Also rare early posters from Sex Pistols, Jefferson Airplane, Bob Dylan, The Ramones, Jim Morrison and The Cramps, among many others. Early Skydog releases included the Flamin Groovies, the visionary Kim Fowley, Ducks Deluxe, Motorhead, The Damned, and in 1976 an LP of the last live show by Iggy and the Stooges, 'Metallic KO'. Also in '76 Zermati organized the first punk music festival, Mont de Marsan, in south-west France, featuring The Damned, Doctor Feelgood, The Gorillas and Eddie & the Hot Rods. In '77, more than 4000 people attended his second Mont de Marsan punk festival, featuring The Clash, The Police, The Damned and Doctor Feelgood. To coincide with both the exhibition and Iggy & the Stooges touring Europe this year, Skydog reissue two recent Iggy releases at mid-price: - Iggy & the Stooges 'Telluric Chaos' (SK20053) is a live document of the reunited Stooges, some 30 years after their infamous last gig, 'Metallic KO' on Skydog. Iggy Pop 'Acoustics KO' (SK20071) finds Iggy unusually solo and acoustic, both on a DVD with various performances, together with a CD of 10 acoustic studio recordings. The U.K. Subs Time & Matter website is pleased to announce the launch of our 'not for profit company' Time & Matter Recordings. T&M exists purely to put out previously un-released or no longer available U.K. Subs material on CD and DVD (and possibly other formats) with 100% of the profits going to a charity or individual personally chosen by Charlie Harper, further details of which can be found on the website. Our first release is a CD re-issue of the legendary 1980 bootleg ³Dance & Travel In The Robot Age², available for just £5-00 (plus postage). Originally released in 1980 by Black & White Recs (from the Isle of White in the UK), the recording was made by the late Tracy Crazy, from the Italian punk band S.I.B, who also took the photographs used on the cover. The gig where the recording was made, at the Palalido in Milan, Italy was part of a seven date European tour that the Subs played with the Ramones. Now, thirty years later, this historic recording is finally getting a proper CD release. Whilst not recorded with the most sophisticated equipment, and reproduced for this release from an original vinyl copy, "Dance & Travel" captures the Subs at the height of their powers with a blistering set of what would become the classics that are the mainstay of their live performances to this day. Time & Matter Recordings now gives you the opportunity to own this essential U.K. Subs bootleg in digital format. This attractively produced CD features exclusive liner notes by Paul Slack, a 4 page booklet with artwork from the original bootleg release and exclusive Black & White band member profile photographs originally used on the back cover of the Warhead 7" single, seen here in their original uncropped, untreated form.
