JOHN FOXX v GARY NUMAN

John Foxx (Analogue Show) with Gary Numan (DJ Set) and special guests... Saturday the 5th of June, 2010... John Foxx & The Maths - 'Destination'/'September Town' is released by Metamatic Records on 15th of March 2010. The Roundhouse <http://www.roundhouse.org.uk/> launched its festival of electronica, Short Circuit, last year with a line-up including Jeff Mills, Erol Alkan, Holger Czukay (Can), Gavin Bryars and The BBC Radiophonic Workshop. The first acts of Short Circuit 2010 are now announced: an evening celebrating the best of British electronic music, headlined and curated by John Foxx. Following a DJ set by one of the UK's most influential electronic artists, Gary Numan with co-producer Ade Fenton, John Foxx will perform a unique analogue synthesizer show to mark his thirtieth anniversary as a solo artist. The founder of Britain's first synthesizer rock band Ultravox, released his debut solo album Metamatic in early 1980. This dark electro classic is one of the few albums to be acknowledged by Aphex Twin as an inspiration and is described by the Klaxons as a visionary record. Foxx and a one-off group of special guests will assemble on stage for the first time with the machines he used on that album - the Moogs, ARPs and drum machines that created the sound of the future - to perform material from Metamatic and a selection of early Ultravox music. The set will also include brand new material created in collaboration with Paul Daley from Leftfield, along with new songs by John Foxx & The Maths - an all-analogue synthesizer project with London-based artist Benge, whose work has been described by Brian Eno as a brilliant contribution to the archeology of electronic music. Benge's London studio houses one of the biggest collections of analogue synthesizers in the UK and was heavily featured in last Autumn's BBC documentary, Synth Britannia. Gary Numan was filmed at the studio for a recent interview <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QJbmUbCh18> where he discusses the impact that John Foxx had on his own music. Earlier in the day there will be a series of events programmed by Foxx. These will include movies, DJs, VJs, his own new collaborations with various film-makers and a Super 8 project he's currently working on with London Orbital author, Iain Sinclair. Further information about this event, including details of some more special guests, will be announced soon . . . Meanwhile, on 15 March the debut single by John Foxx & The Maths - 'Destination'/'September Town' is released by Metamatic Records. It will be followed by a new John Foxx Best Of, Metatronic (30th Anniversary Collection) which features a selection of his darker electro tracks from the last three decades and also includes, for the first time on DVD, the videos for 'Underpass', 'No One Driving' and 'He's a Liquid'. Date : Saturday the 5th of June, 2010. SEX & DRUGS & ROCK N ROLL REVIEW

Better late thna Never-heres a review of the Ian Dury bio pic-out now!!! Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll the movie Sex & Drugs & Rock & RollŠ wasn¹t sure what to expect, but was definitely surprised by the amount of younger people in the audience as well as the older crowd. The film starts off a little random but sets the style of switching between Dury¹s childhood and adult life. The graphics were super in places with cartoon images and acid like images on screen. The soundtrack was obviously fantastic, many shots of the band playing live to a crowd were mixed in amongst the drama. The story line is based mostly around Dury¹s relationship with his son. The actor who plays his son is fantastic, as is the boy who plays Dury as a child. Andy Serkis shines in the lead role and captures the mayhem and emotion throughout the film. He shows Dury as he was, a true genius bit totally self obsessed and everything had to be his way or no way. I enjoyed this film a lot more than I expected. A moving drama, a great rock & roll rollercoaster, and a lot of amusing banter in between! Words by Dod & Sally M

VISAGE BEST OF

THE FACE THE VERY BEST OF VISAGE 8TH MARCH 2010 Who could have imagined that a few kids in the 1970s, fed up with punk, would open a nightclub; The Blitz in Covent Garden, that would pioneer a style of music that would become one of the most resilient and successful styles of the next few decades? Some 30 years or so later, ŒElectropop¹ is still one of the most enduring styles around MGMT, La Roux, Lady Gaga, Little Boots, Ladyhawke now top the year end polls just as Visage, Soft Cell, Human League and Depeche Mode did before them. It is 30 years since Visage released the seminal Fade To Grey. It was a huge dancefloor hit, topping the charts in the UK and Europe and is a track that defines the 1980s, instantly transporting any listener, who was around at that time, back to the days of the New Romantic vanguard whose painted faces and rococo attire adorned the pages of Vogue and The Face. To celebrate this anniversary, Universal Music are pleased to announce the release of The Very Best of Visage, featuring 2009 remixes of Fade To Grey by Rusty Egan, the original Blitz Club DJ and Michael Gray of The Weekend and Borderline fame, alongside the group¹s complete chart topping hit singles as well as some of the classic and highly sought after dance remixes. The 2009 remixes of Fade To Grey have been promoted at clubs across Christmas and the New Year and have been going down a storm, yet more proof, if it were needed, of the timelessness of the genre. Fade To Grey (Michael Grey mix) Mind Of A Toy (Dance Mix) We Move (1983 remix by John Hudson) Tar Fade To Grey In The Year 2525 The Anvil (single remix by John Luongo) Night Train (single mix) The Damned Don¹t Cry (Dance mix) Love Glove Pleasure Boys (Dance mix) Visage (12² Dance mix) Fade To Grey (12²) Der Amboss Fade To Grey (Lee Mortimer mix) THE FACE THE VERY BEST OF VISAGE 8TH MARCH 2010

Depp will direct the film, having based his Jack Sparrow character from the ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean’ films on the rock ‘n’ roll icon.

Depp commented, “My editor is already working on kilometers of archive footage and footage of his concerts. I’m very touched that Keith agreed to show up in front of my cameras.”
