REISSUED BOOTS AND PANTIES!!
IAN DURY’s classic debut solo album is the get the deluxe expanded reissue treatment this autumn.
Having loitered in the backwaters of the pub rock scene for most of the 70s, Dury was catapulted to chart stardom on the back of New Boots And Panties, released by Stiff in September 1977. Although it featured neither of his Top 10 hits to that point, the album was declared platinum in 1979. Combining the alchemical songwriting partnership of Dury and the young Chaz Jankel with the bristling funk chops of rhythm section Norman Watt-Roy and Charlie Charles, it inspired the 80s shift of Britfunk from the clubs to the mainstream, giving it a new post-punk credibility into the bargain.
Reissued numerous times, the new 40th Anniversary edition comes bound in a 12″ x 12″ hardback book format, encasing a vinyl LP of the original album, along with 4 CDs comprising the original album, singles, demos, a John Peel session and a previously unavailable live broadcast from London’s Paris Theatre from July 1978. An eight-page booklet features sleevenotes by Phill Jupitus.
Set for release through Edsel/Demon on 27 October, it’s available to pre-order now through Amazon.
