SILO LIVING WITH PERE UBU!

Iconic Cleveland art-punks PERE UBU are to release a new album in September.

David Thomas’s avant garde quintet formed out of the ashes of legendary proto-punks ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS and have been generating consistently pioneering and challenging sounds ever since, save for a period of inactivity in the mid 80s.

20 Years In A Montana Missile Silo follows on from 2015’s Carnival Of Souls, and finds the band fielding a three-guitar line-up including Kristof Hahn of SWANS matched with an orchestra of digital and analogue synthesisers.

“The new album is The James Gang teaming up with Tangerine Dream,” explains Thomas. “The Chinese Whispers methodology we worked on the last two albums has been replaced by the Dark Room. Put musicians in a lightless room and by feeling one small section of an unknown object have them figure what it must be.”

The album was recorded once again at Suma Studios in Painseville, Ohio, where the band have worked since their debut album The Modern Dance with engineer Ken Hamann and his son Paul.

Pere Ubu plan to tour the album in the US, returning to Europe in 2018.

20 Years In A Montana Missile Silo is set for release on 29 September. It’s available to pre-order now on vinyl and CD.
