MIDNIGHT OIL ON THE ROAD!
Aussie rockers MIDNIGHT OIL have announced a mammoth World Tour, including a London show, their first in 20 years.
Originally formed in Sydney during the mid-70s, Midnight Oil went on to international success spotlighting major issues such as nuclear disarmament, Aboriginal land rights and environmental issues. After 11 albums, frontman Peter Garrett quit the band to concentrate on his political career, which would eventually see him serving as Minister for Environment, Heritage and the Arts under Prime Minister Kevin Rudd.
The band reunited briefly in 2009 nine before announcing last year that they were planning to tour.
Kicking off in Australia in April, the Great Circle tour will take in Brazil, USA, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and New Zealand.
They’ll arrive in the UK for a date at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 4 July. Tickets go on sale here on Wednesday 22 February at 10am.
The dates will be accompanied by three new box sets covering the band’s back catalogue in LP and CD format plus a collection of rare and unreleased material on CD and DVD.
