BLESMA -EX SERVICES CHARITY EVENT

UK hard rock bands are launching a campaign to raise money for BLESMA – the British Limbless Ex-Service Men’s Association.

Stormzone, Pat McManus, Stampede and Agincourt are all confirmed to play the first Rockin’ For BLESMA fund-raiser which will take place at the Robin 2 in Wolverhampton on November 9th this year.

Organiser Russ Williams of Agincourt says: “If any bigger band wants to join the bill as a headliner, we would appreciate it. This is a very worthwhile cause. BLESMA do a terrific job for our servicemen, but the charity does not get the support or exposure it deserves.”

BLESMA is the national charity for limbless serving and ex service men and women and their dependants and widows. They aim to raise £2million a year to meet all its objectives.

These include:

a.            To provide challenging and effective rehabilitation for those who have recently suffered amputation or loss of use of limb.

b.    To provide permanent residential care and respite convalescence at our BLESMA Homes in Blackpool and Crieff in Scotland.

c.    To make grants to ease the effects of disability and hardship.

d.    To provide a comprehensive and effective welfare service for all Members and Widows to include:

    • Provision of comprehensive advice on war pensions, compensation and care and disability allowances.
    • Making representation to government departments and local government officers on behalf of Members and Widows.
    • Represents Members and Widows at War Pension and Armed Forces Compensation Tribunals.
    • Provision of a counselling service pre and post amputation.
    • To ensure prosthetic provision meets the requirements of our Members.

e.    To represent the collective interest of all Members and Widows to national and local government.
