New Jersey band SMALLTALK have a new EP out and we at Vive Le Rock are pleased and proud to premiere the video for the lead track ‘June / July’ here.

The five-piece were put together by Pete Steinkopf from THE BOUNCING SOULS and Zak Kaplan from THE RATCHETS and cite influence from the likes of THE CURE, THE WEDDING PRESENT and THE PSYCHEDELIC FURS.

GOD DAMN DEAD ON THE ROAD!

Noisy Midlands rockers GOD DAMN have a new single on the way in November. They’ve also got a series of UK dates lined up including support slots with RADKEY.

The Wolverhampton duo of Thom Edward (guitar/vocals) and Ash Weaver (drums) release ‘Dead To Me’ through One Little Indian on 20 November. It follows on from the release of their debut album Vultures earlier in the year. You can listen to ‘Dead To Me’ here.

BOMBERS OVER BIRMINGHAM!

Birmingham garage rockers BLACK BOMBERS play a double-header with their East Midlands oppos THE HIP PRIESTS at the city’s Wagon & Horses pub in Adderley St, Digbeth on Saturday 3 October. Support comes from THE DREGS – that’s three great, greasy bands, and all yours for a Lady Godiva!

Bombers’ bassist Darren Birch has just returned from a UK tour backing HEARTBREAKERS guitarist WALTER LURE alongside his former colleagues from 90s Brum legends GUNFIRE DANCE.

Black Bombers are currently putting the finishing touches to their new album, which will be out in the new year. Meanwhile their 7” single ‘Crazy’ b/w ‘That Kind’ is available now from Easy Action.

URBAN VOODOO MACHINE frontman PAUL-RONNEY ANGEL plays a one-off acoustic show on Wednesday 30 September at London’s finest roots music club What’s Cookin’, which takes place every Wednesday at Leytonstone Ex-Services Club, Harvey Road, London E11. He’ll have various friends in tow, so a good night is pretty much guaranteed!

FEAR CONFIRMED FOR REBELLION!

It’s just been confirmed that legendary LA punks FEAR will be playing REBELLION next year in what will be their first ever UK show!

Led by charismatic frontman Lee Ving, FEAR were formed in 1977 and went on to become massively influential to a generation of US punk bands and appearing in Penelope Spheeris’ classic doc The Decline Of Western Civilization.

Also confirmed for next year’s festival are THE DAMNED, THE EXPLOITED, UK SUBS, SLAUGHTER & THE DOGS, COCKNEY REJECTS, HAGAR THE WOMB, COCK SPARRER, THE OUTCASTS, INFA RIOT, THE DICKIES, DISCHARGE, GBH, DICTATORS NYC and loads more….

POWERSOLO GET FRANTIC!

Danish garage guitar duo POWERSOLO have unleashed a new video single ahead of their London show next week.

‘Frantic’ is taken from their new album The Real Sound Of Powersolo, which you can order here.

Hailing from the city of Aarhus in eastern Jutland, the bequiffed Railthin brothers, Kim Kix and Atomic Child, have generated five albums, a sountrack, several singles and compilation appearances and a split 10” with HEAVY TRASH. Says HT’s JON SPENCER: “This is Donkey Punk at its most raw and intense!”

ROCKET LAUNCH NEW ALBUM!

Legendary US proto-punks ROCKET FROM THE TOMBS return with a new album and UK dates later this year. These are preceded by a brand new video for the song ‘Coopy (Schrodinger’s Refrigerator)’ that you can see here.

Originally formed in 1974 and lasting for little more than a year, the seminal Cleveland, Ohio outfit spawned both THE DEAD BOYS and PERE UBU, allowing songs like ‘Sonic Reducer’, ‘Ain’t It Fun’ (The Dead Boys), ’30 Seconds Over Tokyo’ and ‘Final Solution’ (Pere Ubu) to become US punk classics.

First reconvening in 2003, the current line-up features Crocus Behemoth (aka David Thomas) and Darwin Layne (aka Craig Bell) from the original band, plus longstanding drummer Steve Mehlman and guitarists Buddy Akita and Gary Siperko.

Black Record, released on 13 November through Fire Records, features a new version of ‘Sonic Reducer’ along with a cover of garage godfathers THE SONICS’ ‘Strychnine’. Pre-order the album here.

ANTI-FLAG’S PAINFUL VIDEO!

Pittsburgh punks ANTI-FLAG have unveiled a brand new video for the track ‘All Of The Poison, All Of The Pain’, taken from their current album American Spring which was released this Summer.

Shot by Russian director Maxim Frolov, it was filmed on tour in Belgium, Austria and Hungary.

THERAPY? are to release a new single at the end of October.

‘Deathstimate’ is taken from their current album Disquiet, which was released in March. Issued as a digital download only, it comes with two exclusive previously unreleased B-sides, ‘If You’re Driving Pull Over’ and ‘Electricity’ and is out through Amazing Record Co on 30 October.

As previously announced, the band play three dates in December, where they’ll be performing their classic 1995 album Infernal Love in full. The dates are….

GIUDA GET THEIR BALLS OUT!

Vive Le Rock faves GIUDA have announced a one-off London show in December to celebrate the release of their third album.

The football-loving Roman boot-boys play The Lexington in Pentonville Road on Saturday 5 December. Support comes from glam-punk trio THEE JEZEBELS. Tickets are £10 (£12 otd) and are available here.

The band have a new single ‘Roll The Balls’ downloadable from 28 September, and available on 7″ vinyl from 23 October. Look out for the video!

SLEAFORD MODS ON FILM!

MODS

SLEAFORD MODS are the subject of a new documentary film which is being unveiled to coincide with their biggest tour to date.

Sleaford Mods – Invisible Britain was directed by Nathan Hannawin and Paul Sng and follows the duo on a recent UK tour. The film is being premiered at screenings in Nottingham and London, which will feature Q&As with the directors.

The London screening – part of the Doc’n’Roll Film Festival – is at the Picturehouse Central cinema at 3pm on Saturday 3 October. Tickets are available here.

The Nottingham screening is at the Broadway cinema at 8pm on Saturday 10 October. Sleaford Mods’ Jason Williamson will also be participating in the Q&A. Tickets are available here.

STIFF LITTLE FINGERS KNUCKLE DOWN TO ANOTHER TOUR!

Never a band to sit and twiddle their thumbs, STIFF LITTLE FINGERS are back on the road in the New Year with a full UK tour.

And as 17 March will mark the 25th Anniversary of their historic annual St Patrick’s Day shows at Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom, the band will return to the venue for the recording of a live album and DVD. They’ve launched a Pledge campaign to fund the release, which you can subscribe to here.

FAY HALLAM SOLO ALBUM JUST AROUND THE CORONA!

First lady of 80s Mod, FAY HALLAM is to release a new solo album next month.

Corona sees Fay return to Blow Up Records and is preceded by a single ‘Se Me Ami’.

Mostly written during a two-day session following a tour of Italy, the album nods towards a number of the singer and keyboardist’s influences, including ASTRUD GILBERTO, CARLOS JOABIM, THE CARPENTERS and BECK.

Fay will be celebrating the release with more Italian dates, followed by gigs in the UK to be announced shortly.

Across four CDs, Viva La Rock’n’Roll: The Complete Deptford Fun City Recordings 1977-1980 brings together the band’s two albums for the label – The Image Has Cracked and Vibing Up The Senile Man (Part One) – along with Fire From Heaven, the debut album from founder MARK PERRY’s following band THE GOOD MISSIONARIES, and his solo release Snappy Turns. Also included are non-album singles, JOHN PEEL sessions and tracks from What You See… Is what You Are, their split album with HERE & NOW.

The set features a weighty booklet with comprehensive new sleevenotes by Perry himself, plus many rare images.

ALTERNATIVE TV viva la rock n roll

Formed in 1977 by Sniffin’ Glue fanzine creator Perry, Alternative TV went to Deptford Fun City for their second single ‘How Much Longer’.  The label, which also released records by SQUEEZE, was the brainchild of Miles Copeland, brother of police drummer Stewart and later founder of the I.R.S. label.

Alternative TV released their latest album Opposing Forces in July.

HELLO CLEVELAND!

Annoyingly youthful sibling rock’n’roll duo ARCHIE & THE BUNKERS have their debut album ready for pre-order.

The O’Connor brothers – Emmett (16) on drums and vocals and Cullen (14) on keys and vocals – recorded their eponymous 12-tracker at Detroit garage hothouse, Ghetto Recorders, under the watchful eyes and ears of legendary knob-twiddler JIM DIAMOND.

The album is released through top UK garage label Dirty Water Records on 23 October, but you can pre-order it here for late September despatch.
