KILLING JOKE SINGER MISSING – BAND RELEASE STATEMENT

Legendary Post-punk band, Killing Joke have issued a statement regarding the disappearance of their singer, Jaz Coleman.

Killing Joke came under fire the other week after it was announced that the band were pulling out a joint UK tour with The Cult and The Mission, which starts in September. Coleman reportedly posted a message on Facebook, criticising both The Cult and The Mission. However, it now turns out that this somewhat confusing message was actually written by a KG fan and not Jazz Coleman himself

The other members of Killing Joke, Youth, Geordie and Big Paul, have issued the following statement:

“A statement was posted on Facebook, reputedly by our singer, maligning both The Cult and The Mission and pulling us out of the shows.

He is now AWOL and has not contacted any of his band mates.

We are deeply embarrassed by this and offer our sincere apologies to all involved.

We are all concerned about our missing singer’s welfare.

Killing Joke made a collective decision to play with The Cult and The Mission in September.

It was agreed by all of the band that we would do these shows. Indeed, we thought that they were something to look forward to, even though they were downsized.

We would still like to honour our commitment to this tour, the other bands, and all the Gatherers and people who have already bought tickets and made travel arrangements.

If this proves not possible, Killing Joke will make alternative arrangements to compensate for the trouble caused.

Meanwhile we are doing everything we can to make this tour happen and locate our missing singer.

KILLING JOKE

NEW D.O.A ALBUM

D.O.A.’s 14th studio album WE COME IN PEACE. Canada’s punk pioneers, have pulled out all the stops on this new red hot release. Produced by Sean Holowaychuk, Sho Murray and Canada’s godfather of punk Joe Keithley, WE COME IN PEACE has all the firepower, politics and humor that are the cornerstones of any great D.O.A. album, but on this disc you’ll see that Keithley’s songwriting has branched out in a most fruitful and adventurous way.

The album takes a determined political stance with songs like: Dirty Bastards, We’re Bloodied But Unbowed, He’s Got A Gun and a stirring version of the Toxic Reason’s War Hero. There’s also a heavy slice of reggae/dub, with the uber-melodic Walk Through This World. You’ll get your head ripped off with crushing anthems like: Who The Hell Do You Think You Are, Bring Out Your Dead and Boneyard, which features Hugh Dillon (Headstones). There’s more great guest vocal appearances that feature Jello Biafra on the anthemic We Occupy and Ben Kowalewicz (Billy Talent) on the frantic Do You Wanna.Perhaps the most uplifting moments of the album come later on with one Joe’s best new compositions Lost Souls and his Clint Eastwood/spaghetti western opus The Man With No Name. D.O.A. also rip it up with a strong and steady version of The Beatles classic song Revolution.

Along the way Joe took his old friend Jello Biafra’s advice and recorded an acoustic version of the D.O.A. classic General Strike (CD only) as a sign of the times.

Reviews are calling this D.O.A’s best album since the mighty War on 45.

You can order the album now at www.suddendeath.com/

SEX PISTOLS NTB BOX SET

MTB Super-Deluxe Box Set
Sex Pistols announce details of 35th Anniversary ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ super deluxe box set to be released September 24th through Universal Music UK

As one of the most iconic and influential albums in music history ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ still sounds as powerful and unique as ever, 35 years since the original release. As such an important musical and cultural force the album changed the landscape for records and the music industry. The Sex Pistols defined a generation and captured a feeling within the nation that simply no one else could of. The band created a truly distinctive sound and ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ impact and influence still strongly resonates with musicians, artists and people to this day. To celebrate its 35th anniversary, Universal Music UK has assembled a super-deluxe box set release that really does this legendary album justice.

While many fans will undoubtedly be of the opinion that there can be very little left in the Sex Pistols vaults that hasn’t already been seen and heard, followers of the band will be thrilled by the treasure trove of music, footage, interviews, pictures and artifacts confirmed to be included.
The original master tapes from the ‘Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols’ recording sessions in 1977 were thought to be lost for many years. Now thankfully rediscovered during the recent move from Virgin Records to Universal Music Catalogue in January 2012 the tapes have been remastered, for the very first time, by Tim Young under direction from original producer Chris Thomas. Some real treats have also been found along the way. The find that will perhaps excite fans the most is the lost 1977 demo studio recording of ‘Belsen Was A Gas’, the only original Sex Pistols composition of the era thought not to be recorded.

Other treats include the inclusion of six demos first included on the infamous ‘Spunk’ bootleg album, released for the very first time in their original, untouched form following the very recent discovery of their original master tapes. These, combined with a selection of unreleased Chris Thomas demo’s and outtakes from the recording of the album – including tracks with Sid Vicious on bass- plus a wealth of live audio and visual material all from 1977 make up a box set that will truly satisfy fans of the band.
Below is a breakdown of the contents: (also see further below for more info)

CIRCLE JERKS DOCUMENTARY

A new documentary film about the Circle Jerks titled ‘My Career As A Jerk’, is due for release on September 25, 2012. The film is directed by David Markey (1991: The Year Punk Broke, The Slog Movie)

From the beginning, LA punk band the Circle Jerks were rooted in controversy. Formed by-ex members of Black Flag and Red Cross (now Redd Kross) in late 1979, the band came to encapsulate the image, sound and energy of California Hardcore Punk. (The film) mixes in-depth interviews, rare live footage and historical perspective to illustrate the story of one of the most influential bands in the American underground. [It] follows the band from their early days and classic debut to navigating the independent label and touring scene of the 80s to the addictions, fights and injuries that forced their break up. Of course the story doesn’t quite end there

NEW JELLO BIAFRA SINGLE

Jello Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine released two versions of their new song SHOCK-U-PY! as a pay-what-you-want digital download. The two versions are an acoustic sing-a-long mix and a louder rock-a-long mix. The two mixes are available right now on Jello’s bandcamp page: jellobiafra.bandcamp.com

Biafra explains: "Better late than never, here’s our tribute inspired by the Occupy movement. Not just ‘occupy’ – SHOCK-YOU-PY! – since my favorite kind of resistance can have theater, pranks and other creative sabotage – non-violent, of course!"

The SHOCK-U-PY! EP (virus 446 – vinyl, CD EP and digital) hits in early fall, followed by the long-awaited new JB/GSM full-length, White People and the Damage Done (virus 450 – vinyl, CD and digital.) "Vinyl and CDs will take a few weeks so we’re posting "SHOCK-U-PY!" online now – in two forms. "There’s the "sing-a-long mix" from the EP- semi-acoustic and ready made (for the most part) for singing at street protests. Or if you want the usual "rip your head off" approach, there’s the "rock-a-long mix" with the guitars way louder. So, hey – now you have freedom of choice: two mixes, pay or don’t pay, you decide. Please help us out if you can. I’m way in debt trying to finish the album. Benefit compilations for Occupy can just take it, it’s right there!"

The SHOCK-U-PY! EP will also include the non-album song "Barackstar O’Bummer" plus a remix of "We Occupy" another song for the uprising Jello guested on with D.O.A.. "We both go way back in the direct action side of things so I’m honored Joe asked me to sing on this."

"Occupy may be out of the corporate news machine right now but that hardly means that it’s gone away and it won’t go away until the problems go away. To me it’s a reigniting of the anti-corporate ‘spirit of Seattle’ but this time it’s bigger because times are more severe.

The album White People and the Damage Done will include the title track, "Brown Lipstick Parade" (about guess what?), "Werewolves Of Wall Street", "Road Rage", "Mid-East Peace Process", "Crapture" (about the upside to being "left behind" as naked bigots fly heavenward), a ramped-up revival of "Burgers Of Wrath" from Jello and Mojo Nixon’s Prairie Home Invasion album and more. "’Burgers Of Wrath’ is probably the best song I’ll ever write about unemployment and homelessness and works well as both a punk song and an americana song. I’ve been wanting to play it again for a long time."

The Guantanamo School of Medicine are now Mr. Biafra on vocals and tuneage; Ralph Spight guitars, vocals, keyboards; Kimo Ball still more guitars, Andrew Weiss on bass; plus new drummer Paul Della Pelle (from Philadelphia HC legends Ruin, Helios Creed, Nik Turner’s Space Ritual, and more.) EP and album recordings by the usual suspects. Recorded and Mixed by Matt Kelley (lots of Jello, Hiroglyphics, The Coup, Digital Underground, Zen Guerilla, Victims Family, etc.) and Produced by Marshall Lawless.

THE CASUALTIES NEW ALBUM

New York street punks THE CASUALTIES will be releasing their next album – Resistance – on September 25, 2012. The record is the band’s first release through leading French independent, Season Of Mist.

They signed to the label in May after several releases on Los Angeles-based independent record label, Side One Dummy Records, including 2009’s We Are All We Have.

The band has also announced an American tour which starts later this week .
