B.A.D was at ground zero of the rock/hiphop revolution, releasing their first twelve-inch single ŒThe Bottom Line¹ on Rick Rubin¹s Def Jam Records. Subsequent hit singles included ŒE=MC2¹, ŒMedicine Show¹, ŒV-Thirteen¹ and ŒC¹mon Every Beatbox¹. The original group dispersed in 1988. A completely new line-up, known as B.A.D II, had success with singles ŒRush¹ and ŒThe Globe¹ before disbanding. Jones returned in 2005 with Carbon/Silicon and has produced a number of records, including The Libertines¹ debut ŒUp The Bracket¹. Co-songwriter and sample master Don Letts continued to direct films and videos, including ŒDancehall Queen¹ and The Clash documentary ŒWestway to the World¹, for which he won a Grammy Award in 2003. Drummer Greg Roberts and bassist Leo ŒE-Zee-Kill¹ Williams have released seven albums with Dreadzone, while keyboardist Dan Donovan continues to write and remix, working with Mark Moore among many others. For Jones, this reunion represents unfinished business; carrying on the creative spirit of the Clash, whose frontman Joe Strummer co-wrote and produced B.A.D¹s second album ŒNo. 10 Upping Street¹. The album is scheduled for a deluxe re-issue this year and will include several previously unreleased Strummer/Jones songs.

Green Day, of course, do this better than anyone you care to name.² Kerrang! ³A ferocious live showŠ The melodic Boulevard of Broken Dreams and 21 Guns were great stadium moments, yet Green Day were just as effective when drawing on more ragged tunes from their early days.² The Evening Standard ³The vast crowd was immediately galvanised into action singing, shouting, shoving and shunting - an exultant display of high spirits that was maintained throughout a performance lasting just short of three hours.² The Times Green Day¹s 2009-2010 Œ21st Century Breakdown¹ tour proved to be one of the most dazzling and memorable live events of recent years. NO LEMMY STATUE

A petition to get Stoke-On-Trent City Council to erect statues of Motorhead legend Lemmy, as well as former Guns N’ Roses guitar hero Slash, has been rejected.

Labour councillor and music promoter Matt Wilcox told This Is Staffordshire: "I think this idea is a complete waste of time and effort, and the petition was the wrong way for this to be brought to us. It’s actually quite selfish to focus on these two specific artists and I think there should be a more diverse monument to the range of that this city has produced." He added, "If it was a bit broader then it could be a fantastic contribution to Hanley’s Cultural Quarter,"

Build your own Lemmy statue in Stoke instead we say.
